Beloved long-time Burlingame resident Rolando Lopez died late July at the age of 87. A Honduran emigrant, Rolando settled in San Francisco where he was head bartender at the Belle Tavern of the Bellevue Hotel. He went on to own and run the Grand Central bar on Grand Avenue in South San Francisco from 1981 to 2015. After immigrating to the United States, Rolando lived in Hawaii for four years and served in the United States Army. He never forgot Honduras. Rolando loved wildlife, especially birds and hummingbirds, and the poems and stories of Edgar Allen Poe. He loved trivia, English vocabulary words, cribbage and the Jeopardy! television show. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alba Margarita, and sons Rolland and Alan.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 11 at Skylawn Funeral Home and Crematory, 888 LifeMark Road, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019.
