Richard Mirowski Jr., resident of Redwood City, born April 30, 1989, died Nov. 4, 2017, at the age of 28.
Richie was born in San Mateo and grew up in Redwood Shores. He attended Our Lady of Angels School in Burlingame, Serra High School in San Mateo, and earned a degree in Business Administration and Sports Management from Oklahoma Baptist University where he played baseball.
Upon graduation, Richie was drafted by the Washington Nationals as a relief pitcher, and played for the several of their minor league teams.
He was looking forward to the upcoming 2018 season playing for the Fargo-Redhawks in North Dakota after sitting out two seasons due to injuries.
Richie is survived by his parents Richard and Gloria; sister Nicola; grandmothers Sophie Mirowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Maria Espino; grandfather Jesus Espino; aunts and uncles: Jayne Mirowski of Milwaukee, Diana Jennings (Jim) of Coto de Caza, California, David Espino (Joy) of Brentwood; and cousins John Paul Jennings, Alec Espino, Anna Marie Jennings and Dominic Espino.
Friends and family are invited to a funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at Our Lady of Angels Church, 1721 Hillside Drive, Burlingame, followed by a reception.
