Ken Sims Photo

Kenneth Warren Sims went to walk with Jesus on June 17th, 2024 in his hometown of Redwood City, surrounded by his family, after suffering a stroke. He was 68. He was born on July 23, 1955 in San Francisco.

Growing up, he loved spending weekends with his family at Lake Berryessa, fishing & jumping off the bridge. As a young man, he found Jesus & hitchhiked around the United States, eventually settling in San Angelo, Texas. After climbing the ranks to lieutenant of the fire department & the birth of his son, Dustin, he returned to California, where he met & married the love of his life, Tricia. From then on, they rarely spent a day apart, in a home they built with his step-father, Don. With that union, he gained a new daughter, Emily. Katie was born soon after. He was an exceptionally dedicated & gentle husband, son, dad & granddaddy. In addition to his own family, he loved his community as well. His children described his frequent habit of helping and chatting with strangers with the acronym JBF: Just being friendly.
