John Gordon Farquharson Grant

John Gordon Farquharson Grant, born Oct. 31, 1933, in Glasgow, Scotland, died Oct. 5, 2018, surrounded by family in Redwood City.

As a young boy, John experienced World War II firsthand by living through numerous air raids. In 1950, John moved to Salinas, California, and three years later joined the U.S. Air Force, serving for 10 years. After leaving the service, John began a 33-year career working at United Airlines, settling in Foster City with his wife Joan. He particularly enjoyed being able to return to Scotland each summer with his family visiting relatives and sharing the culture he loved. John was a member of the San Mateo Elks for over 50 years.
