James Perry Peeples, born April 17, 1950, in Modesto, California, died peacefully in his adopted home of Rapid City, South Dakota, June 4, 2016.
An original “hippie,” he grew up in and around San Francisco and attended the last Beatles concert at Candlestick Park. He was a fan of the San Francisco Giants, Coca-Cola, Goofy (his alter-ego), movies (he had over 800 DVDs) and Mini Coopers.
He lived in Redwood City for 30 years, and worked for Employment Training Panel in San Mateo, now in Foster City.
He also loved animals, and his favorite cats were Yaz, Mao, Geordie, Marty and Stumpy, to name a few.
“He was a renowned pessimist, but he was also a sweet and gentle man who was beloved by his family, and we will miss his ‘dad’ humor and all of his stories.”
He is survived by daughter Kelly, mother Bettie, brothers Steven and David, and sisters Jo, Linda and Laura, as well as his ex-wife Deborah and both her and his own large and extended families.
Donations can be made on his behalf to Humane Society of the Black Hills, hsbh.org.
