A woman pleaded not guilty Friday to transporting and possessing marijuana for sale after she allegedly tried to fly to Chicago with 3.5 pounds of the drug, San Mateo County prosecutors said Tuesday.
Montequila Robinson, 21, of Citrus Heights was going through security at San Francisco International Airport at 6 a.m. Aug. 29, 2017, when she was allegedly caught with four vacuum-sealed plastic bags of marijuana.
Robinson was allegedly carrying the marijuana in a blue Adidas carry-on bag as she was heading to Terminal 3.
The four plastic bags were allegedly seen on an X-ray machine, and again when her bag was examined.
Prosecutors allege that Robinson first denied the carry-on bag was hers and then claimed that she must have taken the wrong bag from the car she was in when she arrived at the airport.
Prosecutors allege that Robinson was carrying enough marijuana that she must have been planning to sell it.
Robinson is being held on $10,000 bail and is set to be in court again April 3.
Robinson’s attorney Paul Wilkins was not immediately available for comment.
