Reports of prescription fraud led San Mateo police officers on a foot pursuit where they found a suspect hiding on a rooftop Tuesday afternoon at the CVS/pharmacy on El Camino Real.
Investigation resulted in the arrest of two men and a woman on multiple charges including conspiracy, prescription fraud, commercial burglary and possession of a loaded gun.
At about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, San Mateo police responded to CVS/pharmacy at 4242 S. El Camino Real regarding Aileen Su waiting inside the pharmacy with a fraudulent prescription for a large amount of codeine. The caller gave a detailed description of Su and officers contacted her in the parking lot as she was walking away from CVS/pharmacy. As the initial officers arrived on scene, they saw Su walking toward a gray four-door Nissan, where Jordon Rush was allegedly seated in the driver seat and Eliot Rodriguez in the back seat, according to police.
Officers learned Rush and Rodriguez were associated with Su and attempted to detain them for questioning. Rush and Rodriguez were reluctant to show the officers their hands inside the car when ordered to do so several times. Rodriguez, having multiple felony warrants for his arrest, leapt from the backseat and led officers on a foot pursuit through CVS/pharmacy’s parking lot toward a nearby building. Several witnesses helped officers by pointing in the direction of where Rodriguez fled — leading officers to set up a perimeter around Menlo Church at 4150 Piccadilly Lane, according to police.
Officers found Rodriguez hiding on the rooftop of Menlo Church and arrested him without further incident with help from San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department. The Nissan was subsequently searched by officers and they found multiple fraudulent prescription forms, narcotics and a loaded gun, according to police.
