The San Mateo Community College District tapped Victoria P. Morrow Monday to be the next president of Skyline College.
Morrow now oversees all operations at the community college system office in the State Chancellor's office in Sacramento. She has also led state efforts on technology, workforce preparation, curriculum development, vocational education and economic development. She holds a master's degrees from Columbia University Teachers College and Texas A&M, and a doctorate in sociology from the University of Colorado.
"We are delighted that Dr. Morrow will be joining the district - the board believes she has a unique combination of experience and expertise that will be a good fit for Skyline," said Karen Schwarz, president of the county's community college district, in a statement.
Morrow, who lives in Kensington and has been commuting to Sacramento, said she will look to other schools in the system for effective practices that might work at Skyline.
"I just feel lucky to work at such a terrific school," Morrow said Monday.
"It's obvious that the people at Skyline are focused on the students," she said.
She will start at the college Dec. 1. She replaces Frances White.
