Redwood City’s Linden Park was vandalized over the weekend and police suspect arson is the cause, city spokeswoman Meghan Horrigan said.
On a routine patrol, a police officer noticed that fire had damaged the willow play huts, park turf and log play steps, prompting officials to temporarily close the park, Horrigan said.
City staff is developing a replacement plan for the damage and does not yet have a cost estimate, Horrigan added. The park is located at 224 Linden St.
The Redwood City police and fire departments are seeking any information the community might have about the suspected arson. Anyone with information about this case or any other case who wish to remain anonymous may leave messages at (800) 222-TIPS.
