A 37-year-old Redwood City man has been sentenced to 173 years and four months to life for 10 felony charges, including false imprisonment, rape, sodomy and battery, Deputy District Attorney Shin-Mee Chang said.
The man, Anthony Laurentino, viciously attacked the victim after responding to her ad on Backpage — a classified advertising site — and she came to his residence in 2015, according to the DA’s Office.
After the victim began oral copulation on him, Laurentino proceeded to hit her repeatedly in the head, removed her clothes and sodomized, raped and beat her for multiple hours and threatened to kill her, according to the DA’s Office.
In 2020, while awaiting competency proceedings in Maguire Jail, Laurentino also threatened to rape an employee.
He was found guilty by a jury on 10 of 12 charges on Oct. 16, and was not found guilty of attempted murder.
“This case took a long time to get to this stage. We’re just relieved and happy for victim that this is finally over,” Chang said.
