For 22-year-old Henry Sanchez, a 25-cent increase in the bus fare makes a big difference.

It used to be $1.50 to get from his home in Bell Gardens to Cerritos College, where he studies. Now, it’s $1.75 one-way.

This is hilarious. BART spokesperson Jim Allison says the “fiscal cliff” BART is facing is due to high fixed costs rather than mismanagement. I guess Mr. Allison missed the recent probes of BART detailed above regarding faked work hours and a $350k homeless outreach program with the Salvation Army. And I guess Mr. Allison missed State Sen. Steve Glazer saying BART is beset by “a breakdown of all kinds of levels” and then detailing those breakdowns. Time to start reducing some of these fixed costs, perhaps beginning with Mr. Allison’s salary?

No one is listening Terence, sorry to say. We had a chance to elect a functioning State Controller who could begin to address all the bureaucratic corruption and mismanagement but alas, that did not happen.

Great observations, brewster1. Voters get the government they deserve and it appears half a million people voted with their feet, leaving CA after deciding they didn’t like the government corruption, mismanagement, and waste we currently have. I expect more Californians to do the same unless voters elect fiscally responsible leaders.
