An Oakland resident has been charged with possession of a pound of fentanyl for the purposes of sale after allegedly being pulled over with the drugs in the car, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
Angel Aguilarmedina, 41, had a warrant out for his arrest after an undercover informant had arranged to meet with him to purchase a smaller amount of fentanyl, Wagstaffe said. He was pulled over on July 1 in San Bruno at the El Camino Real and Crystal Springs intersection with his family in the car, and when a search of his car allegedly found a pound of fentanyl that was intended to be sold for $14,000, Wagstaffe said.
Upon discovery of the drugs, Aguilarmedina allegedly told police that he did not have any idea fentanyl was dangerous.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his bail was set at $100, Wagstaffe said.
