The California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco is warning people about the dangers of eating wild mushrooms after a husband and wife were admitted to the hospital this week with major organ failure.
Bob Osorio, surgical director of Liver Transplant Surgery, said a man and his wife, who are both in their 50s, picked the mushrooms and ate them on Wednesday. After developing serious cases of diarrhea and vomiting, the couple was admitted to the Watsonville Community Hospital, where their condition quickly deteriorated and it became apparent that they were in need of specialists at California Pacific Medical Center.
