A hand off of at least 200 pounds of methamphetamine has led to a six-year prison sentence for a man who transported it from Tulare County to Redwood City in August 2023, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
Jaycee Sandovalpalacios, 27, previously pleaded no contest to felony transportation of methamphetamine for his role in the drug sale, which occurred at Marsh Manor in Redwood City.
The DA’s Office had asked the court for a nine-year sentence, Wagstaffe said, but the presiding judge sentenced Sandovalpalacios to a lesser term in jail because he was a more minor player in the drug sale.
His co-defendant, 41-year-old Rigoberto Mundaca, has not appeared in court and a bench warrant remains out for his arrest.
Sandovalpalacios told the DA’s Office that a man placed the boxes of methamphetamine in his car in Tulare County and directed him to meet Mundaca.
Both men were apprehended after officers learned of a large narcotics transaction taking place in Redwood City.
