A woman who allegedly abducted her 3-year-old daughter from Antioch Sunday afternoon has been taken into custody, calling off an Amber Alert that was in effect for more than three hours beginning at 11 a.m. Monday, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
CHP spokesman Wayne Ziese said Monday the CHP apprehended 25-year-old Maria Servillon and her daughter Mikayla Viana is safely in officers' custody following a tireless pursuit that began in San Francisco and ended in the Santa Maria area in San Luis Obispo County.
At around 11:09 a.m. Monday, Caltrans employee Sergio Gomez called 911 to report that he thought he had spotted Servillon's dark blue 1995 Land Rover.
Gomez, 40, said he was on his way to a construction project in Daly City when he spotted the vehicle on John Daly Boulevard and Serra Boulevard near the Daly City BART station. The vehicle was traveling east on John Daly Boulevard, he said.
Gomez, a civil engineer who lives in Daly City and has worked for Caltrans for 12 years, said he had seen an Amber Alert for the girl shortly before he saw the vehicle.
"The vehicle fit the description that was listed, but I wasn't sure of the license plate number so I listened to the radio and the number was confirmed,'' he said.
As Gomez followed the vehicle from a safe distance, the CHP along with patrol units from the San Francisco Police Department prepared to stop the vehicle near a 7-Eleven, but were unable to because Servillon "raced onto the freeway,'' Ziese said.
Servillon drove across the Bay Bridge and onto the Nimitz Freeway, at which time two air patrol units joined in the pursuit.

Servillon apparently drove through the East Bay and then headed toward the South Bay.
"She was throwing disposable cameras and CDs at (pursuing CHP) units as the pursuit wound its way through the East Bay,'' Ziese said. "Then the decision was made to start backing off.''
When she arrived in the South Bay, the CHP made the decision to pursue the vehicle from above instead of using ground units, Ziese said.
Patrol units trailed well back and well out of sight while a CHP aircraft and helicopter hovered above.
The driver then continued south on U.S. Highway 101, passing through Gilroy, Salinas and King City, continuing toward San Luis Obispo, where she pulled off the freeway and surrendered to officers, Ziese said. Further information about the arrest is not available at this time.
Servillon will most likely be booked into the San Luis Obispo County jail, Ziese said, and her daughter will be taken to Child Protective Services. The Land Rover will be impounded and the Antioch Police Department will coordinate with the CHP about the investigation.
Since the Amber Alert began there have been 62 Amber Alerts. All children involved have been safely recovered.
