California’s average price for a gallon of gasoline jumped 12 cents since last week, reaching $4.69, according to AAA Northern California.
Refinery maintenance across the state is part of the reason for the increase: when refineries pause production, gas prices in the area temporarily go up. However, relief may be coming as California gas stations made the switch to the cheaper winter blend gasoline on Nov. 1.
Nationally, gas prices remain stable as November kicks off. The national average for a gallon of regular went up nearly 5 cents since last week to $3.08. Still, the national average is lower than it was this time last year, and gas prices should remain on a quiet path as we get closer to Thanksgiving, according to AAA Northern California which tracks prices as a consumer service.
Around the sate, San Francisco has the highest prices at $4.69 a gallon. By comparison, Stockton is at $4.40 a gallon.
