A Foster City man formerly employed by the San Mateo County Environmental Health Department has been charged with 17 felonies for allegedly embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars throughout his eight-year tenure there, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
The man, 47-year-old Kian Atkinson, has been charged with three counts of theft of public funds, three counts of embezzlement and nine counts of identity theft for allegedly embezzling money from the well permits he was granting, Wagstaffe said.
