Burlingame high schoolers attending BHS, Mercy, Mills, d.tech, Crystal Springs Uplands as well as a local charter, independent or home school are invited to participate in the Lions Club annual speech competition. Those interested should prepare a speech between 5 and 10 minutes addressing the prompt: “Integrity and civility play what role in today’s society?” Notes may be used, and speeches will be judged not on content but presentation.
The club will host its contest at noon Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Burlingame Lions Club, 999 Burlingame Ave. Winners stand to receive as much as $21,000 in scholarship money. For more information email Brad McCulley at mcculley.brad@gmail.com.
