Earlier this month, College of San Mateo students received a "heartfelt” thank you for their "generous” contribution to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort, culminating a determined fund-raising campaign that generated $10, 633 in donations.
President Walter G. Bumphus sent a note of appreciation on behalf of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, writing that the donation will "allow the system to provide a Hurricane Katrina Scholarship to students who have been impacted by this natural disaster.”
The relief project to assist those impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita was started at CSM by members of the student government last fall, as they joined forces to hold four barbeques and a rock concert.
