Belmont City Manager Greg Scoles announced Brigitte Shearer will be the city’s new Parks and Recreation director starting May 2. Â
Shearer comes to Belmont from the Highlands Recreation District in San Mateo County where she currently works as the general manager. Her current organization has more than 80 full- and part-time employees, child care programs, year-round aquatics facility, along with recreation classes and events for all ages. As the general manager, she served a community of very similar size and demographics to the city of Belmont. The city’s last Parks and Recreation director Jonathan Gervais, took a job leading County Parks in the fall.
