How about a tasty tip to keep your dog and cat cool during these dog days of summer? First, I should tell you what not to do. As tempting as it may be, don't give her a lick of your ice cream. Vets will tell you that milk products can produce tummy trouble as they are difficult to digest. Cooper, for one, is gassy enough without dairy complicating his digestive track. When I blame the dog, it's for real! Back to nicer things. Since I don't like to tell you what you can't do without offering a safe alternative, try this. Cut up fruit (except grapes which are bad for dogs and cats), and freeze. Once frozen, place into a blender and blend until smooth - ready to serve! Or, if you can find them, try Frosty Paws, an edible dog treat made to look like ice cream but isn't. Frosty Paws was developed as a healthy replacement for ice cream, fortified with protein, vitamins and minerals dogs need. Cold, delicious and refreshing. What more, besides your company, could your best buddy want when it's hot?

You might see Scott and his companion, Cooper, around town. In addition to working for and representing PHS/SPCA, they also volunteer at the Magnolia Center in Burlingame.
