While the rest of the world was grocery shopping the day before Thanksgiving, a dedicated crew was unloading trees for Project Ninety’s annual tree lot at Third and Fremont near downtown San Mateo. The lot has been Project Ninety’s mainstay for 15 years, demonstrating Project Ninety’s presence as a leading human services agency in San Mateo County. The tree lot, a collective effort by Project Ninety staff, board members, volunteers and alumni, is open rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. In keeping with the holiday spirit, Project Ninety also invites the public to stop by The O’Toole Center, 15 Ninth Ave. San Mateo, on Dec.10 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. for "family, food and fellowship.”
Sex and the Stanford Shopping Center fashion show
Fashion rocked at Stanford Shopping Center Oct. 23 as Family Service Agency’s Hillsborough Auxiliary staged a runway fashion show with a "Sex and the City” theme. Bloomingdale’s was the venue and generously provided the fashions, from Ralph Lauren to Hugo Boss to Nicole Miller. Family Service Agency received a portion of the day’s shopping proceeds as part of Bloomingdale’s annual Shopping Benefit staged in support of Bay Area charities. Family Service Agency of San Mateo County is a private nonprofit organization that for 58 years has helped struggling children, families and older adults build positive and productive lives through the provision of vital services such as developmental child care, supervised visitation sites and children’s waiting rooms at the Redwood City Hall of Justice and Juvenile Center.
