TV is so bad, it's funny (After this weeks line-up, I might have to make this my new sub-heading) A few if the highest and lowest points of television this week.
Nuts for Mutts (Monday, Animal Planet, 8 p.m.) The third annual mixed breed dog show and charity features over 400 dogs and 30 events. The show is hosted by Kim Basinger and celebrity judges consist mainly of cast members from "Mad TV" and daytime soap, "Passions." (Talk about a mixed breed.) And what are they judging you ask? Categories include Best Catcher, Fastest Mutt, Best Wag and my personal favorite Mystery Mutt.
The Biggest Loser (Tuesday, NBC, 8 p.m.) It's a sad day when the very people who have sat in front of the TV as couch potatoes, end up using the TV as a tool to lose that weight. Sad day for them - good day for me. With $250,000 being dangles in front of their noses, the pressure of national attention and the intention of shedding excess pounds, 12 contestants compete to be the "biggest loser." Oh yeah...not to mention the whole healthy thing, but since when is that the purpose of losing weight?
The contestants will have a gym available 24 hours a day and a personal trainer will lead each team of six. One team, the Blue Team will be on the "Eat More Diet," consisting of four to six small meals a day in an effort to give more energy towards daily workouts. The Red Team will be on the "Eat Less Diet," which measures basal metabolic rate (BMR) to see how many calories are ... Sorry, I fell asleep because I had no energy. All you need to know about the "Eat Less Diet" is that it sucks.
He's A Lady (Tuesday, TBS, 10:05 p.m.) (Whoa, whoa, whoa, he's a...) Feminists, beware! Eleven men embark on a journey of womanhood, in a quest for, you guessed it, $250,000. The unsuspecting gents originally thought they were going to be on "All American Man," until the show began and they were handed their training bras. (By the look of some of the men, they could have used a man-zere already. Why are women the only one's who need an under wire and to stay perky?") But I digress ... The men will live in "The Doll House," designed as such for the contestants to get in touch with their feminine side. As if that wasn't insulting enough to women, the weekly challenges include planning a wedding, being a bridesmaid, learning to flaunt their new "attitude" and publicly trying to convince people they are indeed women.

I don't want to take the program too seriously and I am sure it will have its moments. These are simply men, playing dress up and pretending to understand their wives, mothers and girlfriends on a more intimate level.
Lost (Wednesday, ABC, 8 p.m.) Ahhhh...my diamond in the rough. Everyone who watches this show knows how truly awesome it has been. This week, Jack suffers from a lack of sleep and his delirious state is amplified as he struggles with the events that brought him to Australia and consequently, the island. The only downside to this show: it's on at the same time as my guiltiest of pleasures - America's Next Top Model (UPN, 8 p.m.)
The Office Special (Thursday, BBC, 9 p.m.) David Brent returns with his office mates, although he has been thrown out of the office. The special picks up three years after Brent was laid off from Werham-Hogg and he is now a full time door-to-door salesman. The office hasn't changed a bit and the painful laughs are still coming. Daft blokes!
You've Got A Friend (Sunday, MTV, 9:30 p.m.) I know, I know- the last thing we need is another hidden camera show from Ashton Kutcher, but his name just happens to be attached to what may be a fairly hilarious show. Contestants aim to pass off an insufferable new "friend" to their family and real friends for 48-hours. If they can pull it off without buckling to the truth, they can win $15,000-an uncommon practice in MTV. Rarely to they give out such an extravagant cash prize, which may say a lot about the intensity of the program. As long as Kutcher isn't sitting in booth narrating the entire program, a la "Punk'd," I'll be happy. Think "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé" with less intensity, less of the annoying Randi Coy and less at stake, making room for a lot more humor.
