Roman de Gare: Magical Mystery

When I went to the movies as a child, it wasn’t as a serious student of cinema it was for pure fun — magic — to escape into a world of delicious fantasy. It was pure joy. As an adult, I began to look at film as art, as something serious to be studied, be critiqued and be held with the same regard as classical music and great literature. Some movies capture the joy of my youth; some are more esoteric, deserving close scrutiny and analysis; and many fall somewhere in between. "Roman de Gare” from French film director Claude Lelouch (noted primarily for "A Man and a Woman” in the US) has provided a delightful experience reminiscent of my early movie-going days.
