NEW YORK (AP) — The next Met Gala co-chairs have been announced, and it's a high-powered quartet: Beyoncé, Venus Williams and Nicole Kidman will join Vogue's Anna Wintour in hosting the starry event next May. Williams will co-chair seven years after her younger sister, Serena, did the same. Beyoncé takes the role after serving as honorary chair in 2013, and Kidman served as co-chair in 2003 and 2005. The museum also announced a host committee of notables, including Sabrina Carpenter and Sam Smith. USA Today editor in chief out after a year in job
USA Today's editor in chief, Caren Bohan, is out of the job she's held for a little more than a year. UN recognizes compas, a Haitian music and dance genre that has marked generations and brought joy
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — Compas, a beloved Haitian music and dance genre inspired by merengue and infused with percussion, has made UNESCO’s cultural heritage list. The syncopated rhythm, created in the 1950s, wafts from bars, bedrooms and businesses across Haiti, lifting spirits and providing solace from the country’s grinding poverty and soaring gang violence. Dominique Dupuy, Haiti’s former foreign affairs minister, called the inclusion of compas on UNESCO’s list “an ode to joy.” The announcement was made Wednesday.
