Suspects arrested over the theft of crown jewels from Paris' Louvre museum

PARIS (AP) — Paris prosecutors have announced the arrest of suspects in connection with the theft of crown jewels from the Louvre museum. The arrests took place on Saturday evening. One suspect was reportedly preparing to leave the country from Roissy Airport. French media had earlier reported two arrests, but the exact number remains unconfirmed. Thieves stole jewels valued at 88 million euros in less than eight minutes during a weekend heist. Officials described how the intruders used a basket lift to scale the Louvre’s façade and smash display cases. The museum’s director called it a “terrible failure.”
