Carlo Lopiccolo, Burlingame baseball. The senior owned it last Friday night in a 14-2 win over Sequoia. Because of the margin of victory, Lopiccolo worked just five innings. But the right-hander cashed in with at least seven innings worth of strikeouts, fanning a career-high 12 en route to earning his first win of the year.
Riley Donovan, Half Moon Bay softball. While pitcher Grace Garcia was throwing a gem in Saturday’s opener of the Los Gatos tournament, the senior right-hander was on the verge of taking a tough-luck loss as Half Moon Bay was getting no-hit going into the seventh inning while trailing 1-0 to Sobrato-Morgan Hill. Freshman Genevieve Belmonte’s double broke up the no-no though and sophomore Abby Claudius followed with a single. Then Donovan delivered the game-winner with a two-run double as the Cougars won 2-1.
Jaxon Skidmore, Hillsdale baseball. The Knights starting pitcher bookended a series sweep of Terra Nova. After Thomas Karpishin opened the week with a no-hit performance, Skidmore capped a sweep of Terra Nova with a 7-2 victory. He tossed six innings, allowing a pair of runs on six hits while striking out six. Offensively, Skidmore drove in three runs to help his cause.
Bo Leschly, Menlo School tennis. The Knights’ No. 4 singles player gutted out a pair of wins to help lead Menlo to a non-league win over St. Francis and the team title at the All-American Tournament in Orange County. Leschly battled back from a one-set deficit against the Lancers’ Jesse Ding. Leschly dropped the first set 6-4, but won the final two, 6-3 and 1-9 in a third-set super-tiebreaker. In the championship match of the All-American Tournament, Leschly rallied from an early deficit to post an 8-6 victory to clinch the title.
Notre Dame-Belmont girls’ track and field. The Tigers set three new school records at the Bay Area Relays at Foothill High School in Pleasanton. The quartet of Alex Gatt, Daviana Hayman, Avery Stump and Liz Piro finished third in the 800 medley relay, with a new school-record time of 1:58.57, bettering the old mark of 2:00.35 set in 2015.
Stump then joined Julia Granucci and Brianna Nunn to set a record in the long jump relay with the three combining for a total distance of 43 feet, 3 3/4 inches, bettering the 40-8 mark set in 2004.

Hayman, Stump, Nunn and Kelly Tobin then finished the 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:18.93, beating the old school record of 1:22.61 set in 2004.
Zack Dwyer, Hillsdale volleyball. The Knights’ 6-3 middle blocker led the team with 14 kills as they downed Capuchino in five sets.
Genna Gibbons, Sacred Heart Prep girls’ lacrosse. Gibbons scored three goals to help the Gators to a 7-6 overtime win over rival Menlo School.
Nate Fleischli, Sacred Heart Prep baseball. The Gators opened PAL Bay Division play with an 8-2 win over rival Menlo School, with Fleischli getting stronger as the game wore on — much stronger. The junior right-hander ran into trouble in the third, loading the bases on 12 straight pitches as Menlo took a 2-0 lead. Then, as Sacred Heart Prep’s bats got going, Fleischli went on lockdown, setting down the final 14 batters he faced.
Ashleigh Wong, Hillsdale softball. The senior catcher was the picture of consistency as Hillsdale won three games last week. Wong went 6 for 11 with two hits in each game. The highlight was her 2-for-4 day in a 13-1 non-league win over St. Francis-Mountain View, including the senior’s first home run of the year, and a season-high four RBIs.
