San Mateo 8, South City 1
The Bearcats finally put it all together in picking up their second win in PAL Ocean Division play.
Austin Salvail paced the offense for San Mateo (2-4 PAL Ocean, 9-7-2 overall) hitting a three-run home run. Kevin Jacobs also went yard for the Bearcats.
That was more than enough offense for San Mateo starting pitcher Dominic Monozon, who stuck out 12 in six innings of work, scattering six hits and allowing one run.
Crystal Springs 9, Harker 0
Josh Goodwine paced the Gryphons with both his arm and his bat as they topped the Eagles in a PAL Lake Division meeting.
Crystal Springs led 3-0 after four innings before blowing the game open with a six-run fourth.
Goodwine pitched a complete-game, two-hitter with 10 strikeouts on the mound. At the plate, he was 3 for 4 with a RBI. Alex Laubscher went 3 for 3 with two runs scored and four stolen bases for Crystal Springs (3-4 PAL Lake, 4-7 overall).
Harker fell to 4-5 in league play and 7-7 overall.
Menlo School 3, Half Moon Bay 1
The Knights scored single runs in the first and second innings, and added an insurance run in the sixth to beat the Cougars in a PAL Ocean Division game.
Half Moon Bay’s Ryan Yerby pitched five innings of relief, striking out six. He also led the Cougars’ offense with a pair of hits.
Badminton
Westmoor 14, San Mateo 1
The Rams nearly completed a sweep of the Bearcats in a PAL Bay Division matchup.
Only Vivian Yao’s win at No. 1 girls’ single prevented San Mateo from being shutout.

Otherwise, Westmoor dominated.
The match of the day came at No. 1 boys’ singles, where Westmoor’s Toby Yu needed three sets to beat San Mateo’s Trevor Tan, 21-17, 17-21, 21-19.
Carlmont 8, Burlingame 7
The Scots were swept in three girls’ doubles matches, but still managed to pull out the win over the Panthers.
Carlmont countered that sweep with a sweep of its own, winning all three girls’ singles matches.
There were three matches that went three sets. Carlmont’s Collin Liao and Isaac Lau got past Burlingame’s Jason Fong and Lucas Orts 21-11, 6-21, 21-13 in No. 3 boys’ doubles. The Scots also got a three-set win from Joseph David and Valerie Choi at No. 2 mixed doubles, 21-18, 21-23, 21-13.
Roy Zhao and Isla Shi, playing at No. 1 mixed doubles for the Scots, fell 14-21, 21-13, 21-19.
MONDAY
Boys’ golf
Menlo School 194, Crystal Springs 213
The Gryphons shot their best round of the year, but the Knights still had more than enough to get past them at Sharon Heights Country Club.
Menlo was led by Kripa Dharan, who finished with a 37. Charlie Hsieh and John Walmart each shot 38 for the Knights.
Crystal Springs got 40s from both Helen Ye and Udai Pal, while Jennifer Aguirre was shot back, finishing with a 41.
Softball
Carlmont 6, Sequoia 0
The Scots scored two runs in the sixth and tacked on four more in the top of the seventh to beat the Cherokees.
Carlmont’s Aby Lan went the distance in picking up the win, limiting Sequoia to just three hits.
The Carlmont offense was paced by Mailey McLemore and Lan, who each drove in a pair of runs.
