The Serra boys’ basketball game originally scheduled for Tuesday night against Archbishop Riordan at Morton Family Gymnasium has been postponed.
It is the third straight postponement for Riordan after the San Francisco private school was temporarily closed last week due to a tuberculosis outbreak. The San Francisco Public Health Department issued a health advisory Thursday, Jan. 29, after three active cases of TB were diagnosed since November 2025 among people connected to the campus, as well as over 50 latent infections.
Both the Serra-Riodan junior-varsity and freshman games slated for Tuesday have been canceled outright.
“We remain in constant communication with all three health departments in the WCAL, including San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara counties, and will continue to work closely with Archbishop Riordan High School to ensure all necessary measures are in place to protect our school communities,” Serra said Monday in a press release.
Riordan last played Tuesday, Jan. 27, in a 53-51 win over St. Ignatius at University of San Francisco. Since then, the Crusaders postponed last Thursday’s home game against Sacred Heart Cathedral and Saturday’s game at Bellarmine.
The Crusaders are currently in first place in the West Catholic Athletic League. Serra dropped its first matchup of the season with the reigning CIF Northern California Open Division champions 57-46 at Riordan.
