The Lady Vikings (2-0 PAL Ocean) made a clean sweep through singles play, winning every set in an early-season showdown at rival Capuchino (1-1). No. 1 single Kylie Huynh got past Maddy Ciardella 6-3, 6-4, while No. 2 Kaylee Chang, No. 3 Maya Dolmage-Heath and No. 4 Sophia Lee all won in straight sets.
In doubles play, No. 2s Emily Anning and Moe Ohnogi earned a comeback victory 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 over Kaia Tsui and Lily Cunningham. No. 1s Natalie Cheng and Taylor Gee, and No. 3s Meagan So and Avery Xiao won in straight sets for Mills.
El Camino 6, Oceana 1
The Lady Colts (2-0 PAL Ocean) won their second straight to start PAL Ocean Division play, sweeping through singles play at home against Oceana (0-2). No. 1 single Yasmeen Juhar rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. In doubles play, Elco No. 1s Madison Woo and Zoei Ng won 6-0, 6-1; and No. 2s Sammi Fang and Scarlett Tong won 6-4, 6-1. Oceana No. 3s Harmony Leung and Emily Hu earned the only win of the day for the Sharks, defeating Kaylee Hu and Avery Fung 6-3, 6-3.
Woodside 7, Terra Nova 0
The Wildcats (2-0 PAL Ocean) made the long trip to Terra Nova worth their while, sweeping past the Tigers (0-2) while pitching a perfecto in singles play by not dropping a set. No. 1 Camilla Jerng, No. 2 Malia Furukawa, No. 3 Madeline Lee, and No. 4 Chloe De Leon each won 6-0, 6-0 for Woodside. At No. 1 doubles, Grace Manuel and Natalie Arai won a 6-3, 5-7, 10-6 battle with Amelia Roberts and Madison Skurko; and at No. 3s, Bailey Draper and Sarah Funge went the distance for a 6-3, 1-6, 10-3 win over Liah Trade and Kaylee Tran.
Westmoor 6, South City 1
The Lady Rams (1-1 PAL Ocean) earned their first win of the year, rolling on their home court past South City (0-2). No. 1 doubles Erin Fuerte and Ayesha Garcia swept 6-0, 6-0; and No. 2s Isabella Edera and Vivien Lang won 6-0, 6-3. South City No. 1 single Mackenzie Gogna earned a win 6-4, 6-2 over Hayden Gonzales.
Carlmont 6, Menlo-Atherton 1
The Lady Scots (2-0 PAL Bay) improved to 2-0 on the year, enjoying a dominant showing through doubles play at home against Menlo-Atherton (0-2). Carlmont No. 1s Ashwika Narayan and Radhika Agrawal swept 6-1, 6-3; while No. 2s Avanti Dixit and Chloe Rui; and No. 3s Bhavya Raman and Haeley Kwok also won in straight sets. M-A No. 1 Tessa Ellingson improved to 2-0 on the league season with a 6-0, 6-1 win. The longest battle of the day was at No. 4 singles, where Carlmont’s Amelia Du Chau came back to defeat Adeline Soltys 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.
Sequoia 4, Half Moon Bay 3
The Ravens (1-1) earned their first win of the year thanks to exciting comeback wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles on their home court against Half Moon Bay (1-1). Sequoia No. 2s Kylie Ho and Leila Berman dropped the opening set, but battled to defeat Vivienne Branham and Gwen Kenna-O’Reilly 2-6, 6-1, 10-5. At No. 3s, Sequoia’s Christine Chang and Sadie Saffron dropped a close opening set, but held off Zoe Kirsch and Fiona Lucus 6-7, 6-3, 10-7. No. 3 single Xennia Ma and No. 4 Emily Loo also earned wins for the Ravens. HMB No. 1 Kate Underwood highlighted singles play with a comeback of her own, defeating Sasha Efimchik 3-6, 6-3, 10-5.
Burlingame 7, San Mateo 0
The Panthers (2-0 PAL Bay) tallied seven straight-sets wins at San Mateo (0-2), led by No. 1 single Samantha Tom, who won 6-0, 6-4. No. 1 doubles Lexi Podkaminer and Hailey Miller earned a 6-1, 6-4 win; and No. 3s Ella Vuong and Greta Martin swept 6-0, 6-0.
Aragon 7, Hillsdale 0
In a crosstown rivalry matchup, the Lady Dons (2-0 PAL Bay, 7-2 overall) remained one of three unbeaten teams in PAL Bay Division play with a victory at Hillsdale (0-2, 0-4). No. 1 single Ella Teng won 6-4, 6-3; No. 2 Anna He won 6-1, 6-2; No. 3 Jessa Williams won 6-3, 6-4; and No. 4 Allison Newman won 6-4, 6-2. In doubles play, No. 1s Lian Wang and Taylor Lee led the way with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Nikki Donovan and Eden Jacobson.
Sacred Heart Prep 7, Palo Alto 0
The Gators (6-1) swept a non-league matchup at Palo Alto, with No. 3 doubles Olivia Lim and Sadie Harmssen rallying back to win 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 over Maya Rajcliff and Maya Rajgopal. No. 1 single Charlotte Weber; No. 2 Jena Azmeh; No. 3 Jasleen Chohan; and No. 4 Shannon Bennitt all won in straight sets, as did No. 1 doubles Audrey Hampton and Abgail Gruber; and No. 2s Hailey Parsons and Sadie Goldstein.
Girls’ water polo
Sequoia 22, Mills 4
Hannah McDonald fronted the attack with eight goals as the Ravens (2-0 PAL Ocean) won their second straight to open PAL Ocean Division play at Mills (1-1). Ashley Ogden added four goals for Sequoia, while Mills was paced by Morgan Chu with two.
Burlingame 13, Mercy-Burlingame 0
The Panthers (2-0 PAL Ocean) were led at home by a hat trick from Aria Sherwood in a shutout of Mercy-Burlingame (0-2).

San Mateo scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter en route to a 13-9 win over Notre Dame-Belmont (0-2 PAL Ocean). NDB was led by Gabrielle Goldfarb with five goals, while Samantha Gould had four. Gould pulled double duty, also totaling 12 saves in the goal.

Boys’ water polo
Mills 16, Terra Nova 5
The Vikings (2-0 PAL Ocean) improved to 2-0 in PAL Ocean Division play with a home win over Terra Nova (0-2). Alex Vazquez scored a game-high eight goals for Mills, while Kellen Duong and Ray Huang recorded three goals apiece. Marcus Mitchell paced Terra Nova with three goals.
The first week of PAL Ocean play would suggest will be new contenders for the league title this season. There are now three unbeaten teams on the six-team league schedule: Mills (2-0), Priory (1-0) and San Mateo (1-0). The three teams have combined for two all-time PAL titles, with Mills sharing the Ocean championship in 2013, while San Mateo won it in 2003. Priory has never won a PAL crown. The PAL Ocean’s last two league champs — Burlingame in 2023, and Sequoia in 2022 — have each been promoted to the PAL Bay Division.

Sacred Heart Prep (2-1) rallied for a 15-13 win over Palos Verdes at the South Coast Tournament. The Gators dropped the tourney opener Wednesday 11-9 to JSerra-San Juan Capistrano.

Half Moon Bay 3, Westmoor 0
Paced by freshman outside hitter Caoimhe Gallagher, the Cougars (1-0 PAL Ocean, 6-6 overall) swept their PAL Ocean Division opener at Westmoor (0-1, 0-8). Gallagher scored a match-high nine kills, along with one ace and one block. Senior Amelia Ortolan added eight kills, senior Gabby Harrison had seven, and junior Lily Harrison fired five service aces. Freshman Jaelah Tagoai led Westmoor with six kills and three aces.
Mills 3, Jefferson 0
Sophomore outside hitter Abby Purvey paced Mills (1-0 PAL Ocean, 3-4 overall) with nine kills is a 25-18, 25-11, 25-15 win at home over Jefferson.

Aragon (1-0 PAL Bay, 3-5 overall) won its PAL Bay Division opener 25-20, 25-18, 25-11 at Woodside (0-1, 2-5).
