The Wildcats (3-0) rolled to their third straight win to start the year, taking care of business on their home field against Monta Vista-Cupertino (0-4). Senior midfielder Ben Lange scored his fourth goal of the year, while senior Jordan Jose Pascacio and sophomore Finnley Lyssand each scored their first. Senior midfielder Luke Hunter totaled two assists.
The uncommonly hot start matches Woodside’s best since 2012. It’s a stark contrast to the Wildcats’ 0-4 start last year. The opened 0-3-1 in each of the two years prior to that.
Hillsdale 1, Crystal 1
Hillsdale (1-1-1) jumped ahead in the first half on a goal from senior Tyler Hughes, Crystal (1-0-1) rallied on its home field with a goal in the second half to earn the draw. Senior midfielder Tyler Esso recorded the assist on Hughes’ first goal of the year.
Menlo 2, Lincoln 0
With the game scoreless at the half, Menlo (1-0) broker through with two goals in the second to win its season opener at home against Lincoln-San Jose (0-2). Senior Declan Sitter scored his first goal of the season, and the 11th of his varsity career, midway through the second half. Senior Reed Sunwoo also scored for the Knights on an unassisted goal in the eighth minute. Senior goalkeeper Dylan O’Malley earned the shutout.

Nueva School (1-2) dropped its second straight 2-1 to Eastside College Prep (2-0).
Carlmont (0-1-1) dueled to a 0-0 draw at Mitty (0-0-1).
Terra Nova 1, Pajaro Valley 0
Sophomore forward Claire Moore scored her first goal of the year in the first half, and it was enough to send the Tigers (2-1) to victory in tournament play against Pajaro Valley-Watsonville (2-1). Freshman goalkeeper Whitney O’Reilly totaled six saves to record her first career shutout.

Hillsdale (1-2) dropped its second straight 2-1 at unbeaten Santa Clara (3-0).
Mills (3-3) earned a 2-0 win over Notre Dame-San Jose (0-2) at the Firebird Classic in Sunnyvale.
Sacred Heart Prep (1-1) rolled to a 4-1 home win over crosstown Menlo-Atherton (1-1-1).
Aragon (1-1-1) took its first loss of the year 2-0 at home against Sacred Heart Cathedral (3-0-1).
El Camino (2-2) fell 4-1 at home to San Marin-Novato (3-0-1) as sophomore Tatum D’angelica scored her second four-goal haul of the year.
Burlingame (0-2-1) was on the short end of a 2-1 final in tournament play against Leland-San Jose (2-0).
Menlo (0-1-2) fell 2-0 to Los Altos (1-1) in tournament play.
El Camino 2, Mills 1
The Colts (2-0) rallied for their second straight win in their road opener, taking the lead at Mills (0-3) on a score by senior Andrew Tafolla with 15 minutes to play. Tafolla tapped it in for his second goal on the season on a header to the back post from sophomore Daniel Figueroa. El Camino got on the board in the first half with work from the same scoring tandem, as Figueroa headed it in on a set piece corner kick from Tafolla.
Hillsdale 1, Gunn 0
The Fighting Knights (1-1) earned their first win of the year with some second-half dramatics at home against Gunn-Palo Alto (0-2-1). With a scoreless at the half, senior striker Anthony Pozzobon converted the game’s only goal on an assist from junior Christian Salamanca. It marks Pozzobon’s first goal of the year, and the second of his varsity career. Senior goalkeeper Emiliano Lopez had three saves to record the shutout.
Sequoia 0, Sacred Heart Prep 0
Senior goalkeeper Max Slayen recorded his third straight shutout as Sequoia (2-1-1) earned a draw at home against defending CCS Division III champion Sacred Heart Prep (0-0-2). Slayen totaled six saves. He previously had shutouts in wins over Jefferson and San Mateo.

San Mateo (3-1) won its third straight 3-1 at Westmoor (0-1).
Menlo-Atherton (2-1) was tied 1-all at the half but fell 4-1 at home to St. Ignatius (1-0).
Serra (1-0) throttled to an 8-1 win in in its season opener at South City (0-1).
Aragon (1-2) fell 5-0 at unbeaten Los Altos (3-0).
Half Moon Bay (1-1) earned its first win of the year 2-1 at home against Capuchino (0-2).
Jefferson (0-2-2) earned a 2-2 draw at home against MacDonald-San Jose (1-1-1).
NDB splits twin bill
Notre Dame-Belmont (2-2) went 1-1 on the day at the Miners Classic held at Nevada Union High School in Grass Valley. The Tigers rolled to a 4-0 win over Shasta (0-4), and fell 3-0 to undefeated Foothill-Palo Cedro (5-0) on a hat trick from senior Sarah McDougall.
