San Mateo 4, Hillsdale 3
The Bearcats got past the crosstown rival Knights in a PAL Bay Division match.
The match of the day came at No. 4 singles, where Hillsdale’s Tyler Cheng rallied from a set down to beat Bharga Ramesh 0-6, 6-4, 10-8.
San Mateo got singles wins from Dylan Chua, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 sinlges, while Atul Anand posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles for the Bearcats.
Aragon 5, Carlmont 2
Akbar Beg suffered a rare loss at No. 1 singles for the Dons, but his teammates picked him up as they beat the Scots.
Carlmont’s Aaron Zhang beat Beg in three sets at No. 1 singles 1-6, 7-5, 10-7. The Scots’ other win came at No. 3 doubles where Jasper Patel and Aryan Agarwal poted a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Aragon went on to sweep the other three singles matches, with Darrin O’Brien posting a 6-3, 4-6, 12-10 win at No. 3 singles.
Mills 6, Half Moon Bay 1
The Ocean Division-leading Vikings ended the Cougars’ five-match winning streak.
Mills won all four singles matches, losing just seven games. Aiden Hisao won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, Max Varfolomeev posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2, Tyler Handel was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 3 and Victor Li rounded out the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
HMB got it win from Aidan Ta and Marshall Patton at No. 3 doubles.
Oceana 6, Capuchino 1
The Sharks won three of the four matches contested as the Mustangs forfeited three matches because of a lack of players.
Kiratpal Multani gave Oceana a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. In doubles play, the Sharks’ No. 1 team of Russell Repil and Renzo Fukuda won 6-1, 6-1, while Justin Hsu and Jeff Vasquez won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Capuchino’s win came at No. 1 singles, where Dylan Lee won 6-4, 6-3.
Boys’ lacrosse
Menlo-Atherton 15, Hillsdale 1
Colin Kryger tallied five goals to lead the Bears to the lopsided PAL Bay Division win over the Knights.
M-A (2-0 PAL Bay, 4-2 overall) scored nine times in the first period to take the drama out of the match. Spencer Cadigan and Bruno Szollar each added two goals apiece for the Bears.
Theo Canada scored for Hillsdale (0-2, 4-4).

El Camino sprinter Noah Flores continues to be one of the best in the PAL as he won both the 100 and 200 again. He posted a time of 11.67 to win the 100 and in the 200 had a time of 23.88. Kaelen Ryan Mendoza set a new PR for the Colts in the 800, winning with a time of 54.24. Christopher Gomez won both hurdles races for EC, winning the 110 high hurdles with a time of 18.53 and added the 300 hurdles win with a time of 44.83. He also added a win in the high jump with a height of 5-8.
Capuchino’s Edern Bautista Tapia set a new PR in the 800 with a time of 2:15.18, while teammate William VanderLugt set a PR in the 1,600 with a time of 4:39.26. Matthias Hackernberg won both the long jump and triple jump for the Mustangs. He leapt 18-8 in the long jump for a new PR and won the triple jump with a mark of 39-9.75, also a PR.
WBAL #1B
Crystal, Eastside College Prep, Harker, Menlo School, Mercy and host Sacred Heart Prep came together for the first WBAL meet of the season.
Menlo’s Lucas Capasso won both throw events, capturing the shot put with a personal record of 36 feet, winning by nearly seven feet. He then added the discus win with another PR of 90-07, 10 feet better than the runner up. He also finished third in the high jump.
The Knights won the two middle-distance races: Landon Pretre dominated the 800 in a time of 1:58.97, where the Knights took the top six spots. William Hauser then won th 1,600 in a time of 4:47.66.
Crystal’s Andrew Hsieh set a pair of PRs in the sprints. He finished second in the 100 with a time of 11.23 and won the 200 with a time of 22.32. The Gryphons’ Findlay Baker ran away with the 3,200 win with a time of 9:44.64, nearly two minutes faster than second place.
SHP went 1-2 in the long jump, with Oskar Herlitz topping teammate Gavin Shaw by 3 1/2 inches: Herlitz went 21-8, while Shaw posted a mark of 21-4.50.

El Camino controlled the sprints with Yue Yang winning the 100 in a new PR of 13:35, while teammate Lhian Jane Dela Cruz won the 200 with a PR of 29.90. Adriana del Rosario won both throwing events for the Colts, taking the shot put win with a throw of 26-3.5. She added the discus win with a toss of 77-0 for a new PR.
Capuchino’s Angelina Jensen dominated the 800 with a PR time of 2:28.02. Maya Canas won both hurdles events. She was the only entered in the 100 hurdles and posted a time of 24.36. She added the 300 hurdles win with a time of 1:03.70.
WBAL #1B
Crystal’s Lauren Fleshman won three events — the two sprints and was part of the winning 4x100 relay — at WBAL’s first meet of the season.
Fleshman won the 100 with a time of 12.52 and added the 200 win with a time of 27.14.
Sacred Heart Prep’s Sophie Cheng held off Menlo’s Veronica Taira, 2:18.38 to 2:18.53.
Menlo’s Sophia Faris won the long jump with a distance of 15-2.25 and finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 30-1.25.
SHP’s Samora Stephens won the shot put with a mark of 33-2.50 for a new PR, while Mercy’s Natalie Padilla won the discus with a throw of 96-07.
