Priory 7, Jefferson 4
The Panthers opened PAL Lake Division with the win over the Grizzlies.
Priory (1-1 PAL Lake, 3-1 overall) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Jefferson (0-1, 0-3) responded with a run in the top of the second and two more in third. The Grizzlies then tacked on another run in the top of the fifth for a 4-2 lead.
But Priory answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth and then took the lead with a four-run sixth.
Trevor Demkin drove in a pair of runs for Priory to make a winner of Nathan Tuan who worked the final three innings of no-hit ball while striking out eight.
Sacred Heart Prep 10, Carlmont 0
The Gators put a surprising beat down on the Scots in a mercy-rule win.
SHP (4-3) scored two in the bottom of the first, four in the second, three in the third and then ended things with a run in the fourth.
JP Durrett, Dane Bochnowski and Dylan Betts each drove in two runs for the Gators. That was more than enough offense for starter Rallin Covey, who worked all five innings, giving up one hit while striking out seven.
Caden Stinson had the only hit for Carlmont (2-3).
Burlingame 5, South City 2
The Panthers handed the Warriors their first loss of the season under the lights at Washington Park.
Burlingame (4-1) took control of the game with a three-run second before adding single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Grayson Howard doubled and drove in two runs for Burlingame, making a winner of Daniel MacMillan, who worked five innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Nick Armstrong notched the save with two innings of no-hit ball.
South City (3-1) scored both its runs in the top of the fifth, with Adam Keith and Vince Bernal each collecting an RBI.
Summit Shasta 16, KIPP San Jose Collegiate 1
The Black Bears posted a mercy-rule, non-league win over the Wolfpack to pick up their first win of the season.
Summit Shasta (1-2) scored two in the top of the first, three in the second, four in the third before erupting for seven in the fourth. Summit’s Jalen Mingao hit for the cycle going 4 for with a single, double, triple and homer while driving in five runs and scoring four times. Ari Umali had a pair of doubles and two RBIs for the Black Bears.
Mingao also got the win, working into the third inning, giving up one run on one hit.
Half Moon Bay 9, More 3
The Cougars pulled away in the later innings to beat the Knights in a non-league game on the coast.
HMB (3-2) led 1-0 after one inning and it stayed that way until the Cougars scored two in the fourth. That propelled them to three runs in each the fifth and sixth innings.

Sequoia (5-1) shut out Aragon (2-3), 8-0.
Hillsdale (5-1) hammered Branham (3-3), 17-1.
St. Francis (5-1) piled on a struggling M-A (1-4) squad, 7-1.
Softball
Menlo-Atherton 17, Cupertino 3
The Bears scored 17 runs on 13 hits as they overwhelmed the Pioneers in the South Bay.
M-A (2-1) scored two in the second, five in the third, three in the fourth and seven in the fifth. Emma Loose went 4 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored for the Bears. Carey “Veggie” Maletis went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, while Olivia Rodgers and Sophieann Lin each added a pair of RBIs, while Lavietani Taufahema went deep for M-A.
Gracy Nava, one of three pitchers for M-A, got the win, giving up one hit in three innings of work.
Aragon 13, Watsonville 3
The Dons kept the Wildcatz winless with the mercy-rule win.
Makayla Hafoka drove in four runs for Aragon (5-4), who also got the win in the circle, allowing an earned run on three hits in three innings of work.

Pankhuri Chopra drove in three runs for the Dons, as well.
Watsonville drops to 0-4-1 on the season.
In other action...
St. Francis (3-0) beat Capuchino (0-1) in its season opener, 9-2.
Ann Sobrato (4-5) handed San Mateo (3-1) its first loss, 7-4.
Boys’ tennis
Mills 4, Woodside 3
The Vikings moved into third place in the PAL Bay Division standings after getting past the Wildcats.
This was a marathon match as the first three singles matches went three sets, with Woodside (1-4) winning two of them — Owen Demas won at No. 1 singles 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 and Jordan Lee prevailed at No. 2 single 0-6, 6-1, 10-8.
But Mills (3-2) earned a split of the four singles matches, with Aiden Young posting a 2-6, 6-4, 12-10 win at No. 3 singles. The Vikings then won two of the three doubles matches to snatch the win.
Aragon 4, Menlo-Atherton 3
The Dons swept the four singles matches to hold off the Bears.
Darrin O’Brien, playing at No. 3 singles, and Azmir Khan at No. 4 cruised to straight-set wins — 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2, respectively, for Aragon (4-0 PAL Bay).
The match of the day came at No. 2 doubles where the M-A (1-3) duo of Max Weiss and Yoon Bae posted a 7-6(4), 4-6, 10-6 win.
Carlmont 4, Burlingame 3
The Scots stayed undefeated in Bay play after getting past the Panthers.
Carlmont (4-0 PAL Bay) won three of the four singles matches, highlighted by 6-0, 6-1 win by Aaron Chang at No. 2 singles.
The Scots clinched the win with a victory at No. 3 doubles, where Nathan Reznik and Maxmillan Margolis won 6-3, 6-1.
Udhanta Mishra-Agoram won for Burlingame (2-2) at No. 4 singles to prevent the Carlmont sweep, winning 6-0, 7-5.
Menlo School 6, Harker 1
The Knights tuned up for the national High School All-American Tournament in Orange County by topping the WBAL rival Eagles.
Menlo (2-0 WBAL, 8-0 overall) got straight set wins at Nos. 2 through 4 singles from Surya De Datta, Lucas Huang and David Lipeles.
The Knights then swept the three doubles matches.
In other action...
Half Moon Bay (2-0 PAL Ocean) swept Oceana (0-2) 7-0, losing only four games in five matches. The Sharks forfeited the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches.
El Camino (1-1) beat short-handed Capuchino (0-2), 5-2.
