Menlo-Atherton 4, King’s Academy 3
The Bears scored two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings as they knocked the Knights out of first place in the PAL Bay Division standings.
M-A (7-4 PAL Bay, 13-11 overall) and King’s (7-4, 12-10-1) are now tied for second, one game behind division-leading Burlingame.
King’s took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, but M-A scored twice in the top of the sixth for a 2-1 lead. The Bears tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh, which proved crucial as the Knights scored two in the bottom of the frame.
Ronan Cutright drove in a pair of runs for the Bears, while Wes Peterson got the win in relief of starter Harrison Long.
Nate Plata had two RBIs to lead the King’s offense.
Burlingame 6, Sequoia 4
The Panthers find themselves alone in first place after beating the Ravens, coupled with M-A’s win over King’s Academy.
Burlingame (8-3 PAL Bay, 15-5 overall) found itself trailing 1-0 after three innings, but tied it with a run in the top of the fourth. The Panthers added three more in the fifth and two in the sixth for a 6-1 lead. Enough of an advantage to withstand a three-run Sequoia (5-6, 12-12) in the bottom of the seventh.
Will Robbins homered and drove in two runs to lead the Burlingame offense. Jackson Howard and brother Grayson Howard each drove in a run as well for the Panthers. Dionisios Vorrises earned the win, allowing one run on four hits, while Jackson Howard posted a shaky save.
Morgan Winfield had two RBIs to lead Sequoia.
In other action ...
Hillsdale (5-6 PAL Bay, 9-10-1 overall) used a five-run fourth to propel it to an 8-2 win over Carlmont (5-6, 14-9).
Capuchino (5-6 PAL Bay, 16-8 overall) scored five runs in the top of the fourth and two more in the fifth to pull away from SHP (2-9, 7-17) for an 8-1 win.
In a rare high school doubleheader, Design Tech (11-5) and Summit Shasta (8-8-1) split a pair of PSAL games at the Belmont Sports Complex. D Tech won the opener, 4-0, while Summit Shasta got over in the nightcap, 7-0.
Softball
Mills 11, Terra Nova 5
The Vikings stayed undefeated in PAL Ocean Division play after beating the Tigers.

Mills (9-0 PAL Ocean, 10-5 overall) scored in six of the seven innings, scoring three in the second and four in the fourth to take command. Sofia Kwan doubled, tripled and drove in three runs to lead the Mills offense. Audrey Jang also drove in three runs, while Bella Leary added a pair of RBIs for the Vikings.
Kalia Woo wobbled to the win in the circle, she allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits in five innings of work.
Katie Mitchell drove in two runs for Terra Nova (6-3, 7-7).
Menlo-Atherton 17, El Camino 0
The Bears routed the Colts in a mercy-rule win to stay one game behind Mills in the PAL Ocean Division standings.
M-A will host Mills for what should be the Ocean Division title next Thursday.
A nine-run second decided the game for M-A (7-1 PAL Ocean, 11-9 overall) as the Bears banged out 16 hits. Ashlyn Roeder drove in three runs for the Bears, while Miya Wu, Elise Koo, Dani Koo, Reese Glotzbach and Emma Loose all drove in two runs for M-A.
El Camino falls to 2-7 in Ocean play and 2-12 overall.
In other action ...
Notre Dame-Belmont (10-8 overall) snapped a two-game slide by beating Sequoia (2-15) 8-1 in a non-league game.
Boys’ volleyball
Menlo-Atherton 3, San Mateo 0
The Bears swept the Ocean Division champion to claim the PAL’s last automatic bid to the Central Coast Section playoffs, posting a 25-13, 25-15, 25-21 win.
M-A (22-5 overall) was dominant defensively, finishing with 14 blocks as a team. Ben Warner led the way offensively for the Bears, notching 11 kills. Andrew Bernadicou added nine kills and five digs.
San Mateo (17-11) will wait to see if it can earn an at-large bid to the CCS tournament.
Boys’ lacrosse
Hillsdale 7, Sequoia 5
Trailing 5-4 going into the fourth quarter, the Knights outscored the Ravens 3-0 to pull out the Ocean Division victory.
Charlie Aguirre scored a game-high three goals to lead Hillsdale (6-3 PAL Ocean, 10-6 overall). Shaker Vause, Josh Benard, Theo Canada and Nathan Bear rounded out the scoring for the Knights.
Sequoia (4-5, 5-9) got two goals from both Jack Spottiswood and Luke Holmes. Luke Rowell rounded out the scoring for the Ravens.
