Menlo School 4, Crystal 0
Bianca Putanec posted her third straight shutout in goal as the Knights handed the first-place Gryphons their first WBAL Foothill Division loss of the season.
Julia Axelrod gave Menlo (3-1 WBAL Foothill, 9 points; 6-3-4 overall) a quick 1-0 lead, converting a Krista Arreola pass into a third-minute goal. Josie Lee capped a dominating first half as her goal gave the Knights a 3-0 lead. Audrey Katz capped the scoring for Menlo in the second half.
Carlmont 4, Hillsdale 0
The Bay Division-leading Scots dominated the first half, scoring three times on their way to the victory.
The win keeps Carlmont (4-1-2 PAL Bay, 14 points; 7-3-3 overall) one point clear of Woodside (4-2-1, 13 points) atop the Bay Division standings.
Delaney Kumer continues her hot playing, scoring twice to give four in the last three games. She opened the first-half scoring for Carlmont (4-1-2 PAL Bay, 14 points; 7-3-3 overall) and capped the half by converting a penalty kick.
Kiyo Aretun and Rina Choe rounded out the scoring for the Scots, with Gianna Armanini adding a pair of assists.
Hillsdale falls to 2-2-3 in Bay play, good for 9 points, and 3-6-3 overall.
Aragon 2, Burlingame 0
The Dons stayed in the hunt for the Bay Division title with the win over the Panthers.
Aragon (3-2-2 PAL Bay, 11 points; 4-5-3 overall) is alone in third place — the final automatic qualifying spot for the Central Coast Section playoffs. The Dons are three points back of first-place Carlmont, two points back second-place Woodside and three points ahead of fourth-place Sequoia.
Aragon scored once in each half. Tessa Matthews gave the Dons a 1-0 lead in the first half off an assist from Katherine Contreras. Madison Ketchum scored an unassisted goal in the second half for the Dons.
Terra Nova 3, Capuchino 0
The Tigers stayed atop the Ocean Division standings with the shutout of the Mustangs.
Geneva Chan and Claire Moore gave Terra Nova (3-0 PAL Ocean, 9 points) a 2-0 lead at halftime, off assists from Laney Wilson and Nina Alexiev.
Ella Templin rounded out the scoring in the second half.
Capuchino falls to 1-2 in Ocean play.
San Mateo 3, Jefferson 0
The Bearcats overwhelmed the Grizzlies, scoring six times in the second half.
Lulu Bertolini had a hat trick and an assist to lead San Mateo (2-1 PAL Ocean, 5-3 overall). Kayla Lichaa added two goals and two assists, Nur Ziv had one of each and Emily Cheng picked up two assists.
Jefferson falls to 0-3 in Ocean Division play.
Mills 2, Half Moon Bay 0

The Vikings scored a pair of second-half goals to top the Cougars.
Maya Dolmage-Heath opened the scoring for Mills (2-1 PAL Ocean, 7-8 overall), off an assist from Juliana Valencia. Jocelyn Kwan iced the game for the Vikings with a penalty-kick conversion.
Half Moon Bay falls to 1-2 in Ocean action and 2-6-1 overall.

PAL Bay
The Carlmont and Capuchino boys’ teams both stayed undefeated in dual meets as the tension builds for their likely PAL Bay Division championship showdown next Thursday, Jan. 29 in San Bruno.
Carlmont (5-0 PAL Bay) got past a tough El Camino (3-2) squad, 43-25. Capuchino (4-0) cruised past Sequoia (0-4), 58-18.
On the girls’ side, Carlmont (3-2) slipped past El Camino (2-3), 20-18, while Sequoia beat Capuchino, 24-6.
Boys’ basketball
Pacific Bay Christian 58, East Palo Alto Academy 25
The Eagles had doubled up the Bulldogs by halftime as they cruised to the PSAL win.
Pac Bay (3-2 PSAL, 5-6) led 14-5 after the first quarter and 30-15 at halftime, before holding EPAA (0-4, 1-9) to just 10 second-half points.
Kelly Orth led the Eagles’ offense, scoring a game-high 18 points. Omar Aziz Ali added 14 rebounds in the win.
In other action...
Summit Shasta (6-0 PSAL, 11-6 overall) stayed undefeated in league play following a 77-27 win over KIPP-SJ Collegiate (1-4, 6-8).
Crystal (3-1 WBAL, 13-3 overall) beat Eastside College Prep (1-3, 11-4), 63-44.
Girls’ basketball
Crystal 28, Castilleja 25
The Gryphons prevailed over the Gators in a defensive battle, during a 12-point second quarter the highest-scoring of the game.
Crystal (2-2 WBAL Skyline, 8-4 overall) led 9-5 after the first quarter, but Castilleja (2-2, 7-7) outscored the Gryphons 12-5 in the second to lead 17-14 at the break. Crystal outscored Casti 14-8 in the second to take the win.
Mia Samaan-Molinero did a little bit of everything leading Crystal, finishing with nine points, nine rebounds and three assists.
In other action ...
Eastside College Prep (1-3 WBAL Skyline, 8-6 overall) led 25-13 at the break on its way to a 54-38 win over Mercy (0-4, 7-9).
Summit Shasta (5-0 PSAL, 9-7 overall) rolled to 64-11 win over KIPP-SJ Collegiate (1-2, 9-5).
