Half Moon Bay 68, Terra Nova 33
The Cougars’ defense held the Tigers to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters as they hammered their rival.
HMB (2-0 PAL Bay, 8-6 overall) took control of the game early, outscoring Terra Nova (0-2, 7-7) 20-8 in the first period. The Cougars were even more suffocating in the second, holding the Tigers to just three points as they led 35-11 at the break. HMB held Terra Nova to eight points in the third before the Tigers put up 14 in the fourth.
Gio Garduno-Martin, again, paced the offense for HMB, hitting the 20-point mark for the third game in row, finishing with 20 points and nine boards. Owen Perez, a 6-9 center, chipped in 10 points, including a monster putback dunk.
Terra Nova got seven points from both Isaiah Birch-Corona and Kai Gieraths.
Carlmont 59, Sequoia 46
In a battle of new coaches, the Scots gave Suhail Mohammadi his first PAL Bay win, handing Ola Dean his first loss with the Ravens.
Mohammadi, a 2010 Carlmont grad, was hired about two weeks before the start of practice; Dean was hired Monday to replace Fine Lauese, who stepped down last week.
Carlmont (1-2 PAL Bay, 6-7 overall) led by seven, 18-11, after the first quarter and then upped its lead to 34-22 at halftime.
Jordan Rice went for 19 points to lead the Scots, who had three score in double figures. Luke Brown added 11 and Emil Gordi chipped in 10.
Sequoia got 15 points from Nick Henderson. Xavier Ferretty was right behind with 14 points for the Ravens.
Menlo-Atherton 64, Burlingame 52
The Bears are looking like the team to beat in the Bay Division as they took control of a close game in the third quarter and rode that to the win.
M-A (3-0 PAL Bay, 10-3 overall) led 16-14 after the first quarter and maintained that two-point lead at halftime, 28-26.
But the Bears outscored Burlingame (2-1, 10-4) 20-9 to grab a double-digit lead the Panthers could not overcome.
Aragon 41, Westmoor 35
The Dons held off the Rams to stay undefeated in PAL Ocean Division action.
The game was close the whole way, with Aragon (3-0 PAL Ocean, 11-3 overall) leading 18-15 at halftime. The Dons extended their lead to 35-28 entering the fourth and Westmoor (0-3, 5-10) couldn’t mount a comeback.
Caleb Brodeth was the only Aragon player to score in double figures, finishing with 10. Westmoor was led by Austin Prado, who scored a game-high 12 points. Kevin Panlasigui added 11.
El Camino 62, Oceana 46
For the final three quarters, the Sharks were neck-and-neck with the Colts.
But El Camino used a 29-point first quarter to propel the Colts to the comfortable win over Oceana.
El Camino (2-1 PAL Ocean, 7-7 overall) led 29-9 after the first period, but only outscored Oceana (0-3, 5-10) by just a point the rest of the way.
Markson Jacques led the Colts with 12 points, with Eli Ledesma adding 10. The Sharks got a game-high 16 points from Cristian Cabrera and 14 from Catcher Ashkinos.
Woodside 68, South City 45
Leading by six at halftime, 33-27, the Wildcats took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Warriors 17-8 on their way to the Ocean Division win.
Woodside (3-0 PAL Ocean, 6-7 overall) outscored South City (2-1, 6-8) 35-18 in the second half.
Marco Antonino poured in 22 points to lead the Wildcats, adding seven rebounds and a pair of steals. Luke Grech added 14 points for Woodside, with Josh Fitzsimmons chipping in 11.
South City was led by Marcus Zhu, who finished with 14 points.
Menlo School 81, Harker 50
Behind 30 points from Ethan Zhao, the Knights cruised to the win over the Eagles in the WBAL opener for both.

It was a stat night for Menlo (1-0 WBAL, 8-5 overall). Tres Onyejekwe added 11 points, eight rebounds and five steals, while Maverick Desuasido had eight points and eight boards, to go with six assists.
Harker (0-1, 5-9) was led by Lucas Huang, who had nine points.
In other action ...
Sacred Heart Prep (1-0 WBAL, 7-5 overall) withstood a Pinewood (0-1, 10-3) fourth-quarter rally to hold on for a 55-48 win.
Design Tech (3-0 PSAL North, 3-6 overall) buried Mid-Peninsula (1-4, 3-7), 84-26.
Riordan (3-0 WCAL, 10-1 overall) led 19-9 after the first quarter and Serra (0-3, 8-5) could not climb back into the game, falling 57-46.
Girls’ basketball
Carlmont 63, Aragon 61 OT
The Scots rallied to tie the game at 53-all to force overtime and then held on for the win.
Carlmont (1-2 PAL Bay, 10-5 overall) outscored Aragon (0-2, 4-7) 18-7 in the opening quarter, but the Dons flipped the narrative in the second, outscoring the Scots 18-9, with Carlmont holding a 27-25 lead at halftime.
Aragon scored 20 points in the third period to take a 45-40 lead into the fourth, where the Scots overcame the five-point deficit.
Daisy Pantoja Beltran went off for Aragon, putting up 30 points. Eva Felix added 11 for the Dons.
Half Moon Bay 49, Hillsdale 46
The Cougars came out on top in a key PAL Bay Division matchup.
Zoe Lemoge led HMB (2-0 PAL Bay, 10-3 overall), scoring a game-high 16 points. Makena Glynn added 11 for the Cougars.
Hillsdale (2-1, 10-3) got 12 points each from Daniella Sierra and Cadence Lane.
Menlo School 57, Harker 48
The Knights opened up a 15-point lead at halftime to send them to the WBAL Foothill victory.
Anika Shah scored a 20 points for Menlo (1-0 WBAL Foothill, 10-2 overall), knocking down five 3-pointers. Ava Allen added 17 points and Sophia Longinidis chipped in 13.
Priory 50, Notre Dame-SJ 17
The Panthers had little trouble with the Regents in the WBAL Foothill Division opener.
Ugreat Daniels and Jordyn Moss each had 12 points to lead Priory (1-0 WBAL Foothill, 7-5 overall) and the pair combined for 10 rebounds. Gabby Wickham added 10 points and four boards. Those three, along with Adelaide Chan, combined for 15 steals.
Sacred Heart Prep 69, Mercy 22
The Gators held the Bears to single-digit scoring in all four quarters and then scored a combined 43 points in the second and third quarter to cruise to the WBAL Skyline Division win.
SHP (1-0 WBAL Skyline, 3-7 overall) led 17-8 after the first quarter before shutting out Mercy (0-1, 6-5) in the second as the Gators took a 36-8 lead at halftime.
A 24-point third period was the final blow.

Menlo-Atherton (3-0 PAL Bay, 11-2 overall) won for the eighth time in nine games, handling Mills (0-3, 4-7), 49-31.
Capuchino (3-0 PAL Ocean, 10-2 overall) won its seventh straight game, beating Jefferson (0-3, 7-7).
South City (1-2 PAL Ocean, 8-7 overall) topped Terra Nova (2-1, 6-4), 56-48.
Design Tech (2-0 PSAL North, 4-3 overall) rolled to a 60-10 win over Mid-Peninsula (1-4,1-8).
Pinewood (1-0 WBAL Foothill) put a quick end to the Notre Dame-Belmont (0-1, 11-1) winning streak, beating the Tigers 68-31 in the WBAL Foothill Division opener.
King’s Academy (1-0 WBAL Skyine, 9-4 overall) beat Crystal (0-1, 6-3), 54-38.
