Menlo-Atherton 44, Los Gatos 40
The Bears (4-1) trailed 31-26 heading into the fourth quarter, but sophomore Mary Tava scored all six of her points in the final period as M-A closed on a 18-9 run to win it at Los Gatos (4-1). Senior forward Lita Fakapelea paced the Bears with 13 points to go with eight rebounds, senior center Ape Ulukivaiola finished with eight points and nine rebounds, and freshman Bella Gormsen grabbed three steals.
Crystal 60, University 7
The sophomore class fueled the second straight blowout win to start the season for the Gryphons (2-0), as Casey Louie and Mia Samaan-Molinero shared the game-high with 10 points apiece. Crystal held University-San Jose (0-1) scoreless throughout a 20-0 run in the first quarter. The Gryphons have now held both their opponents to single digits after opening the season last Tuesday with a 61-9 victory over Oceana.
Nueva 39, Hillbrook 37
Senior post Julia Randolph recorded her first career double-double in spectacular fashion to lead the Mavericks (2-3) to their second straight win over Hillbrook-San Jose (0-1). The four-year varsity standout totaled 16 points and 26 rebounds, both career-highs, while adding six blocks shots and another career-high of six steals. Junior Havi Seivers added 15 points and eight rebounds for Nueva, sophomore Camilla Khiari totaled 11 rebounds, and freshman Xochi Santillan had six steals.
Mercy 41, Drew 31
With the game tied 16-all at the half, Mercy-Burlingame (4-3) opened the second half on an 11-0 run , at home to win its third straight against Drew-SF (0-5). Taryn Smith hit a bucket to give the Bears an 18-16 advantage, Maddalena Guzzetta followed with back-to-back baskets, Sydney Mendiola drilled a 3, and Jasmine Jimenez scored a 2 to finish the run. Guzzetta, Mendiola and Annabel Kensic finished with eight points apiece.
Half Moon Bay 54, Terra Nova 38
The Cougars (5-2) ran into their archrivals at Terra Nova’s host 50th Annual Jim Soden Girls’ Varsity Basketball Tournament, and finished the three-day tourney with a 2-1 mark. Terra Nova (3-2) dropped to 1-2 in the tournament.

Notre Dame-Belmont (7-0) swept play through its host Steve Geramoni Invitational tournament, capped by a 46-21 win over Burlingame (3-4). The Tigers have now won seven straight to start the year as they chase last year’s 11-0 start.
Aragon (3-2) earned its first win at The Kings Academy Tournament with a 57-40 victory over Prospect-Saratoga (2-6).
Sacred Heart Prep (2-5) dropped its second straight at the Steve Geramoni Invitational with a 56-49 loss to Lick-Wilmerding (7-1).
Hillsdale (5-0) remained unbeaten with a 45-29 win over Washington-Fremont (2-1) at the Steve Geramoni Invitational.
El Camino (3-4) dropped its fourth straight 45-17 at unbeaten Del Mar-San Jose (6-0).

Boys’ basketball
Galileo 51, El Camino 49, OT
The Colts (3-3) used a 19-12 run in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but fell in the extra period as Galileo-SF (5-2) won at the Cardinal Classic Basketball Tournament at Lowell High School in San Francisco. Junior guard Nathan Lee shot 60% from the field to lead the Lions with 20 points, sophomore guard Andres Villalobos added 12, and junior Isaac Yang grabbed eight rebounds.
Sequoia 53, Pacific Grove 49
With the game tied 39-all heading into the fourth quarter, the Ravens (3-2) won their third straight overall, and their second straight at the Breaker Classic over host Pacific Grove (3-3). Sequoia fell behind 18-8 in the first quarter, but used a 24-8 run to swing ahead before halftime. Pacific Grove junior Andrew Nimri scored a season-high 30 points.

Crystal (6-1) won its fifth straight, 64-51 at home over University-San Jose (5-2).
Westmoor (3-6) rallied for a 46-36 home win over rival Jefferson (2-3), breaking a 29-all tie with a 17-7 run in the fourth quarter.
Summit Shasta (4-3) went to overtime to earn a 50-46 win over Balboa-SF (4-4) at the Cardinal Classic Basketball Tournament at Lowell High School. The Black Bears finished 2-1 at the tourney.
Terra Nova (3-3) evened up its record with an 85-15 win over KIPP Collegiate-San Jose (4-2) at the Pirates Treasure Tournament in Santa Cruz.
South City (3-4) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 60-47 victory at Yerba Buena-San Jose (1-8).
Aragon (4-3) salvaged a game at the Cardinal Classic Basketball Tournament in San Francisco with a 70-58 win over Wallenberg-SF (2-6).
Menlo-Atherton (1-2) claimed a 59-53 victory over Inderkum-Sacramento (6-3) at the Riley Christiansen Memorial Classic at Valley Christian High School.
Capuchino (3-4) enjoyed its best offensive showing of the season with a 69-32 home win over Burton-SF (2-7).
San Mateo (6-2) closed out the Rob Vares Jr. Memorial Tournament with back-to-back wins after a 59-44 victory over Gunderson-San Jose.
