Sequoia 5, Carlmont 2
Sequoia seniors Mario Fausto and Morgan Winfield each homered to lead the Ravens (2-1 PAL Bay, 9-3 overall) to the win in a PAL Bay Division two-game series opener at home against Carlmont (1-1, 6-7). Winfield was 2 for 3 with a two-run homer in the third, his fifth of the year. Two batters later, Fausto connected for a solo homer to right to make it 4-0. Fausto went 3 for 3 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored, and also recorded the save with three shutout innings in relief of winning pitcher Garrett Johnson. Senior Ryan Weiss homered for Carlmont, a solo shot to center in the fourth, the first of his varsity career.
Capuchino 13, South City 6
Trailing 6-0 in the second, Capuchino (10-3) rallied back to win it against South City in the South City Spring Classic tournament. The Mustangs exploded for seven runs in the third, taking the lead on a two-run double from sophomore Jaxon Lazzari. Cap banged out 16 hits, paced by senior James Ayoob’s 3-for-3 day with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Lazzari added two hits and three RBIs. Senior reliever Aaron Rodriguez took over in the second, and fired 4 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. South City junior Vince Bernal paced the Warriors (5-7) with three hits, including a double and an RBI.
Aragon 18, Watsonville 4
The Dons (8-4) sent 16 batters to the plate in a 10-run first inning in a five-inning mercy-rule win at Watsonville (2-7). Designated hitter Sean Tam recorded a pair of two-run singles in the first-inning explosion, and finished the day 4 for 4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. The senior is 10 for 14 over his last four games, raising his season average to .522. Sophomore James Wright added two hits and three RBIs for the Knights, and junior Zach Laguna had two hits with a double and two RBIs. Laguna worked three innings on the mound to earn his first varsity win, allowing four runs on three hits.
Mitty 10, Menlo-Atherton 4
Menlo-Atherton held leads of 2-0 and 4-2 over the first two innings, but Mitty (11-4) stormed ahead with two runs in the fifth before scoring five in the sixth in non-league action in San Jose. Junior catcher Ethan Chase gave the Monarchs the lead with a sacrifice fly to score junior Brody Lacy. Senior Ryder Kelly totaled two hits with a double and two RBIs for M-A (4-10), and senior Max Brucacher added two hits. Junior reliever Jay Kim earned the win for Mitty, allowing one hit through 4 1/3 shutout innings.
San Lorenzo 10, Jefferson 2
San Lorenzo junior Eric Ferreira went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs to lead the Grizzlies (7-6) to a non-league win at home over Jefferson (1-10). Jeff led off the game with a single, but it was one of just two hits allowed by San Lorenzo starting pitcher Alexys Casillas. The sophomore allowed two unearned runs while walking three, hitting one batter and striking out nine. Junior reliever David Pena pitched a scoreless seventh to close it out.

Mercy 11, University 1
Mercy-Burlingame (10-2) scored four runs in the first and four more in the fourth, before walking off via mercy-rule in a non-league win over University-SF (3-11) at Cuernavaca Park. Freshman Fefe Alusa went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and three stolen bases, and supplied the walk-off single in the fifth to drive home freshman Sienna Molina. Sophomore Isabel Reburiano and junior Kathleen Graupera added two hits and two RBIs apiece. Reburiano earned the complete-game win in the circle in her varsity pitching debut, allowing one run on two hits through five innings of work.
St. Francis 17, Carlmont 0
San Mateo native Malianna Liongitau fell a single shy of the cycle as St. Francis-Mountain View (9-1) rolled to a five-inning mercy-rule win at Carlmont (3-10-1). Liongitau went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, and her first home run of the year. Maya Meltz and Peyton Tsao also homered for St. Francis. Senior pitcher Hailey Nguyen fired a one-hit shutout, walking one and striking out 14. Carlmont senior Grace Stiefel recorded the Scots’ lone hit with a one-out single to center in the third.
St. Ignatius 4, Sequoia 0
Sequoia stranded nine baserunners en route to suffering a shutout in a non-league home loss to St. Ignatius-SF (4-7). Sophomore pitcher Olivia Dollard went the distance for St. Ignatius, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out five. She danced through a two-out jam in the seventh to close it out, after senior Nisha Mehta tabbed her second hit of the day, and senior Jamie Elkington doubled to left to put runners at second and third for the Ravens (4-5). Dollard bounced back with a groundout to end it.
