The Crusaders (4-2-2 overall) earned their fourth shutout of the season in their final non-league tuneup prior to the start of West Bay Athletic League play Friday against the King’s Academy.
The sophomore tandem of Caroline Callagy and Lizzie Bermudez did the rest, totaling one goal apiece to front the victory. Both scores came in the first half.
Mercy has now won two straight, including a 1-0 victory over Monta Vista-Cupertino Dec. 21. The Crusaders’ other two shutouts came in a 0-0 tie with Fremont-Sunnyvale Dec. 4 and a 2-0 win over El Camino to open the year.

Carlmont 59, Santa Clara 37
Ashley Trierweieler recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, both team-highs, as the Lady Scots jumped out to a 12-2 lead and led the rest of the way.
Santa Clara closed the first half on a 10-2 run to narrow Carlmont’s lead to 6. The Scots outscored Santa Clara 17-6 in the fourth quarter.
Evelyn Gordi scored 12 points, and Erica Mendiola added 10 for the Scots (10-3 overall).
