SUNDAY
San Ramon Valley 9, Hillsborough 4
Hillsborough fell to the elimination bracket with a loss to San Ramon Valley in the winners’ bracket semifinals at Hillsborough Little League’s District Field.
Hillsborough jumped out to a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and second, but San Ramon Valley responded with a five-run outburst in the third. Hillsborough rallied for two runs in the top of the fifth, with Drew Kettman scoring on a wild pitch to close it to 5-4, but San Ramon Valley scored four more in the bottom of the inning to put it away.
Hillsborough was held to four hits in the contest, with Brady Lien adding an RBI single.
With the loss, Hillsborough will face Newark in an elimination game Monday at 5:30 p.m. The winner advances to Tuesday’s championship round at 5:30 p.m., with San Ramon Valley needing be defeated twice to be denied the title.
Section 3 All-Stars 12s tournament
SATURDAY
San Mateo American 11, Mt. Eden 0
San Mateo American posted crooked numbers in each of its four at-bats to roll to a mercy-rule win over Mt. Eden in the opening game of the Section 3 tournament at Athan Downs Park in San Ramon.
Pono Rosenberg enjoyed a big day at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a home run. Jagger O’Brien added two hits and two RBIs, Hudson Wong was 2 for 2 with a walk and an RBI, and leadoff hitter Milo Werner was 1 for 1 with a walk, a hit batsman and three runs scored.
American took a no-hitter into the fourth inning before Mt. Eden’s Angelo Cardera singled with one out against Rosenberg. Four American pitchers combined on the shutout. Christopher Moreno worked a scoreless first as the starter, Connor Workman fired 1 1/3 perfect innings while striking out four, and Wong went two-thirds of an inning. Rosenberg closed it out with a scoreless fourth.
Section 3 All-Stars 11s tournament
SUNDAY
San Mateo American 12, San Lorenzo 0
San Mateo American bounced back in an elimination game, exploding for seven runs in the first inning to knock off San Lorenzo in a four-inning mercy-rule contest.
American banged out 11 hits in the game. Zach Marinec had a big two-run double in the first and finished with three RBIs, Carter Wells was 2 for 2 with an RBIs, and Alexander Bayer added a double with two RBIs.
Four American pitchers combined on a one-hit shutout. Mazin Khoury surrendered a hit in the top of the first but buckled down to get his team back in the dugout amid a scoreless tie. Joaquin Lee followed with 1 2/3 hitless innings, Bobby Zapala worked one inning, and Bayer entered with two outs in the fourth to retire the game’s final batter.
American now advances through the elimination bracket to face Newark, Monday, at Newark Junior High School at 5:30 p.m. The winner advances to Tuesday’s championship round, and must defeat Granada twice to claim the title. Granada, advancing through the winners’ bracket, need win just once to secure the Section 3 banner. An if-necessary game is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Granada 3, San Mateo American 1
Granada starting pitcher Lucas Ward fired three scoreless innings, and his lineup broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third as San Mateo American fell to the elimination bracket of the Section 3 tournament in Newark.
American totaled four hits, and tied it in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from Colton Baker to score Lazlo Cianci, but Mazin Khoury was thrown out at the plate trying to score the go-ahead run on the play. American wouldn’t score again in the game.
Granada took the lead back in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Mateo Duterte to bring home Ward with the game-winner. Granada added an insurance run in the fifth. American’s best chance was in that fourth inning, loading the bases with no outs. After the out at the plate, Owen Bittle hit a line drive to the right side of the infield, but it found the glove of second baseman Vincent Thielen. Granada reliever Bowen Mar then escaped the jam with an inning-ending infield grounder to strand the bases loaded.
Granada advanced through the winners’ bracket and into the championship round with an 8-6 win Sunday over Newark. Granada now awaits the winner of Monday’s elimination game between San Mateo American and Newark.
NorCal State All-Stars 14s tournament
SUNDAY
Pacifica 9, McKinleyville 4
Pacifica won its second straight game in the Northern California tournament to advance to the semifinals of the winners’ bracket in Rocklin.
McKinleyville jumped out to a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning, but Pacifica called upon left-hander Robbie Johnson with the bases loaded and no outs. Johnson didn’t let the ball out of the infield to strand the bases loaded, then proceeded to shove for four shutout innings, allowing one hit, to earn the win.
Pacifica took the lead back with a six-run rally in the bottom of the inning. Dom Paulsen tied it with an RBI single to drive in Nate Hari. Riall Moore followed with a go-ahead double.
Elijah Mora Feldman was 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for Pacifica, while Paulsen added two hits.
Pacifica is now set to face Petaluma Valley, Tuesday, at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the championship round of the seven-team, double-elimination tournament.
SATRUDAY
Pacifica 11, Rocklin 7
After letting a 3-0 lead slip away, Pacifica overcame a 6-3 deficit with a seven-run outburst in the fifth to win the opening game of the Northern California Little League All-Stars tournament in Rocklin.
Pacifica took the lead 7-6 in the fifth when William Gatley reached on an infield error, with Brady Fitzpatrick and Ethan Tam both scoring on the play. Gatley was 1 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs in the contest, and Sean Hagemann was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.
Paulsen earned the win in relief, working 3 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk, while striking out five. Fitzpatrick closed it out with two-thirds of an inning, notching one strikeout before inducing a fly ball to center fielder Like Petersen to end it.
