Belmont-Redwood Shores 11, Palo Alto 5
Belmont-Redwood Shores answered a Palo Alto run in the first by scoring in each of the last five innings to win an elimination game at Trinta Park. Every Belmont player reached base in the game, paced by Lucas Janin with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Palo Alto got on the board in the first when Phillip Sheng drove in Colton Kuchinski. But Mateo Marquez led off the second with a single for Belmont-Redwood Shores, and the scoring parade began. Janin drove home two runs with a two-out, bases-loaded single to plate Marquez and Michael Ateya. Chase Wilson then reached on an infield error to score William Lucas.
Caleb Mooney scored on an error in the third to boost the lead to 4-1. Then in the fourth, Marquez scored on an error and Kyuji Graham drove home Ateya with a sacrifice fly.
Palo Alto cut the lead to 6-5 in the bottom of the inning. Ian Nilson drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Alonzo Ontiveros, Zion Lee produced a two-run single to score Austin Carlstrom and Phillip Sheng, and Liam Murphy capped the rally with and RBI single to score Nilson. The Belmont-Redwood Shores bullpen kept the lead in check though, and the offense kept swinging it, with Marquez capping a three-run rally to score Van Sloan in the fifth. Then in the sixth, Lucas and Chase Wilson each drove in runs to cap the scoring.
Sloan earned the win on the mound, working the first three innings as Belmont-Redwood Shores’ starter. Wilson closed it out, striking out three through 1 2/3 innings.
Belmont-Redwood Shores advances through the elimination bracket to play Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Palo Alto posted a 1-2 record in the tournament. Their roster includes Kuchinski, Carlstrom, Sheng, Nilson, Murphy, Alonzo Ontiveros, Henry Doll, Zion Lee, John Park, Daniel Newman, Leif Yang, Wyatt Fletcher and Charlie Reiss.
San Mateo American 14, Redwood City 1
San Mateo American erupted for 14 hits, including multi-hit performances from each of the first five batters in their order, to earn a mercy-rule victory over Redwood City in an elimination game at Trinta Park.
Colton Baker went 2 for 3 and drilled a three-run home run in the third, Alex Bayer was 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs, and Owen Bittle was 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Mazin Khoury and Zach Marinec added two hits apiece.
Baker earned the win on the mound, going 2 1/3 inning in the abbreviated four-inning format. Baker allowed one run on three hits and nothing wild while striking out three. Khoury finished out the win, setting down all five batters he faced through 1 2/3 innings.
RWC scored its only run in the second on an RBI single from Rowan Allen to knock home Aidan Hogan.
American advances through the elimination bracket to play Friday at 5 p.m.
Redwood City posted a 1-2 record in the tourney. Their roster includes Allen, Hogan, Tate Tyler, Jackson Williams, JJ Schaukowitch, Cayden Fanini, Elliot Ross, Rowan Allen, Colin Krefits, Huxley Chapman, Henry Blatnik, Griffin Newby and Callen Fong.
