The man sent to a state mental hospital after allegedly threatening to kill a court clerk over traffic school was deemed fit for trial.
Alexander Bejarano, 51, was declared incompetent last August and committed to Atascadero State Hospital. On May 18, he was returned to San Mateo County Jail and criminal proceedings were reinstated.
Bejarano now faces four felony counts of making criminal threats against a public employee. The threats carry up to two years in county jail and thousands of dollars in fines.
Bejarano allegedly called the San Mateo County Court Clerk's Office twice Jan. 24, 2003 to complain that court records did not accurately show he had completed traffic school. When the clerk told Bejarano he needed to bring in proof, he allegedly replied that he would bring a gun instead to blow off the clerk's head. He also is accused of calling back and threatening to bomb the cars of everybody in the office. Bejarano will return to court July 6 for a jury trial.Â
