The Lesley Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide affordable housing to the people in our community who are over age 62 and who have limited incomes.
The Lesley Foundation is committed to making system upgrades in all our buildings in order to ensure the safety of our elderly residents. In the winter of 2003, we began a major renovation of our elevators at Bonnie Brae Terrace in order to meet changes in the National Elevator Code and the Americans with Disabilities Act. A fire alarm system upgrade was also in progress; the majority of the work was done before the fire of May 24.
Bonnie Brae Terrace was built in 1971 when the building code did not require sprinklers in a four-story complex. Even today, sprinklers are not a code requirement in a building the size of Bonnie Brae Terrace.
We receive annual inspections by the fire marshall from the South County Fire Authority and our building has always received a positive report.

executive director
