Almost weekly, I receive a glossy flyer from another politician trying to influence my vote in the Millbrae recall election. This overwhelming influence from outsiders and politicians attempting to sway the outcome of the recall is deeply concerning.
I find it peculiar and telling how many politicians have come out in support of Goodman and Cahalan. These outside political endorsements raise questions about the councilmembers’ motivations and priorities. Are they truly representing the best interests of our community, or are they catering to external pressures? When it was time to stand with most of Millbrae in opposition to La Quinta, they did not. They failed to perform necessary due diligence in their decision to support the La Quinta Hotel conversion. Their lack of thorough investigation and reliance on inaccurate information jeopardizes public safety and undermines trust in local governance. The marked increase in emergency calls at other converted hotels should have been a critical consideration. Their oversight has left our community vulnerable, demonstrating a disregard for the potential consequences of their decisions.
In times like these, I find solace in the collective wisdom of our community. I trust a thousand neighbors over a hundred politicians any day of the week. Our voices matter, and we should not let external influences, whether from activists or politicians, dictate the future of Millbrae.
I urge my fellow neighbors to vote yes on the recall. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue; it is a grassroots neighborhood issue. Let’s take back control.
