Ugly Americans

I agree with many of your comments about Trump but the alternative is even worse. Kamala will drive our government into deeper debt and a recession and voters will regret having voted for her. And just ask yourself who would Putin of Xi would rather negotiate with - Kamala or Trump?

There is a beauty posted by SanMateo111. He/she mentions the Democrat Party main stream. What is that anyway? Free abortions on demand, more gun control, more censorship, more gender reassignments, more law fare, price control, more appointments based on skin color and gender instead of merit, higher taxes, more undocumented residents sucking up our resources? Anyone would be a fool to vote for that agenda. Sanmateo111 seems to forget that RFK Jr wanted to be on de Democrat Party ticket but was rejected because he could sluice votes away from Biden. He was excluded from day one. There was no debate, no primary, just an appointment by the corrupt Democrat Party. Democratic values, anyone?

I wonder whether any of these lefties and sudden Harris supporters "Jorg, Rel, Taffy, Mike etc.." took the time to listen to RFK Jr's reason for leaving the Democrat Party. As an insider, he certainly brought some ugly points to the surface. He is a victim of the corruption, intimidation and outright law fare of a political clan that has long forgotten what their mission should be. Now that is ugly, and we should all uniformly despise the leaders of that party.

As a kid in the Netherlands I recall us calling the typical American tourist, the ugly American. They were already wearing ugly shorts and shirts, had a camera strung around their necks and their spouses were mostly loudmouth entitled types. Fortunately, once I had immigrated, I discovered soon that stereotyping Americans, or anyone else for that matter, was inappropriate and ignorant.

The term "Ugly American" also referred to some Americans (i.e. the CIA) neo-colonial habit of interfering in the internal affairs of many non-white countries through coups, assassinations, engineered color revolutions and civil wars, financing opposition groups and parties, economic sabotage, etc.. All of these things are still taking place in 2024. For example, although not generally reported in corporate media, recent examples are American interventions in Venezuela, Georgia, Malaysia, Thailand. You will find no greater a supporter of such racist behavior than the neocon war monger Joe Biden, who recently let slip that "I am president of the world." While Trump certainly was going along with such policies to a large extent, he was somewhat more likely than the rest of the uni-party to push back on the neocon agenda. So calling Trump an ugly American may be true, it definitely applies to Joe Biden and his administration, despite liberal camouflaging.

Here we go again…blah, blah, blah, orange man bad. Speaking of ugly, Mr. Arum, it’s not surprising you cherry pick editorials supporting your flawed position. We can easily pick editorials blowing up your editorials and your assertions. I’d say your LTE falls into three categories: false, obscure, AND lunatic. I’m not even talking about grotesque hyperbolic assertions or baffling verbal manufactures. It’s interesting you try to focus on unknowns in the future when you can’t face the recent past or the present damage caused by treasonous Biden/Harris and their America Last policies. I’d say that what are worse than ugly Americans are uglier people who attempt to define what they consider ugly Americans based on, as Mr. van Ulden has generously described, out of context WSJ editorials. Which one are you, Mr. Arum? I think our dear readers have a pretty good idea when you consider Not So Common’s facts you’ve willfully ignored. Doctor Strange Doolittle - It would be nice if you are going to write an LTE that you would provide real life examples and facts, not just the same rhetoric we read everyday when Jorg, Rel, Taffy, Mike etc.. chime in. Facts go a long way towards proving or swaying opinion, but spewing what swirls in your head will not sway true Americans. Had you said, Trump got us into two wars, he worked with his political allies to create a false Russian narrative about Barrack Obama, or that Trump accepted $27 million from China and Ukraine that was funneled through his sons, or that inflation went through the roof during his administration, or that Trump fell down the steps of Air Force One 18 different times, or that Trump is staying inside the White House waiting to see if Punxsutawney Phil would show up with his ice cream, or or or.... let's get some facts Doctor.

Dr. Arum - thank you for highlighting out of context WSJ editorials. Let's see, we have had many administrations, and certainly including the current one, that populate professional planners who have, nonetheless, made a mess of our economy, the world peace and have made life generally unaffordable for many Americans. I'll take an outsider who does not conform with your understanding of a leader anytime. And what the so-called allies are concerned, they don't give a darn about us and are just in it for our protection of their welfare states. You need to clean up your gross generalization of what an Ugly American is. You are clueless.

The most disappointing part of your observation is that the political party you mentioned, the Republican Party, does not have truth or facts in their lexicon. As the saying goes, you are preaching to the choir. The majority knows that Trump is an unhinged petulant child.
