Editor,
I am writing in regards to candidate Wayne Lee in the city of Millbrae race. Wayne Lee has been overly involved in activities incompatible with taking care of business at home in Millbrae, domestically.
He has had some manner of influence in various sister city relationships Millbrae and has signed memorandums with past and present: Kaiping, Taishan, Zhongshan, Hengyang, Dongguan and Suizhou. He refuses public outcry and why individuals would be uncomfortable with the private event held on city property celebrating the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China where the PRC flag was raised on city property. Millbrae has community members of Chinese descent from Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong and more who have voiced their opinion on what appears to be a singular focus for over 10+ years.
FPPC 700s, filed previously, shows Wayne had received gifts and compensation from individuals with strong foreign ties including Luk Fook Jewelry from Hong Kong. The prior city manager allowed a study during 2014 entitled “evaluation of the potential for international-serving retail in Millbrae.” It is inappropriate to allow a taxpayer funded study such as this. How can anyone believe Wayne Lee will serve District 2 when the record shows he serves predominately non-Millbrae individuals? His campaign website referred to Bayside Manor as “Bayview.” He’s never cared about any residents east of El Camino. The mishandling of the Tai Wu project both a planning commissioner, mayor and councilmember still echoes today.
