Mr.Guttenbeil - Common Sense. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Guttenbeil, and your astute observations regarding those most vocally opposed to DOGE and Trump 45’s tax cuts benefiting everyone. It’s only been a month and I’m hoping Musk and his band of merry men continue exposing the waste, fraud, and abuse in our federal government. I hear a few states are entertaining the idea of state DOGEs but you know what will need to freeze over before we see a version in California. I’m not wrong very often but I hope I’m wrong about that. Easy savings pickings – the train-to-nowhere and the money wasted on public education administrators. Those folks can’t seem to administer a halfway decent education policy. And of course, turning our politicians into half-time, or less, politicians.

On a side note, perhaps DOGE’s highlighting of NGO’s who were receiving money from USAID or other USA programs will result in other countries being aware of the grift, and will prevent their countries from wasting money on these NGO’s. To wit, I believe Orban from Hungary is well aware and is ensuring no money is given to these globalist NGOs who have fled the USA. Good for Hungary.

I don't think anyone is against wasteful government spending, but I do think there is something to be said about the way Mr. Musk is going about doing it--abrupt, across the board cuts with a cavalier attitude towards people who are losing jobs in a very short time span. Not to mention without regard to the effect these loss of jobs and funding will have on programs that many Americans depend on.

Lou

Everett - And how would YOU propose to solve the government spending problem?

Everett

How about an open and transparent process that doesn't involve a team of people working behind closed doors led by someone who has a clear conflict of interest? How's that for a start, Lou?

Terence Y

Allow me to add my two cents, Everett… Check out doge.gov and it’ll answer your question regarding an open and transparent process. As for a conflict of interest, that has already been asked and answered and any conflicts of interest with Musk will be addressed. If you’re not satisfied, please contact the Trump administration, although I’m sure there are plenty of left-wing media who will “get on that” before you might. Other suggestions?

Everett

Terence, I have looked at that website, and it does not answer my question regarding an open and transparent process. It's several pages of statistics and some contracts and leases they have canceled, but where's the documentation about how they selected which contracts to cancel, or justification that these are indeed waste? Regarding conflicts of interests, there is already a conflict of interest with Musk and his companies, such as him gaining access to information systems at departments that are investigating his companies, like USAID for SpaceX. Your suggestion to "please contact the Trump administration"? You're kidding, right?

Terence Y

Everett - thanks for your response. The doge.gov website is constantly being updated so what you haven’t found “open and transparent” may be updated. It should be noted that a number of savings include notes/descriptions as to why the money was cut, mostly DEI-related or self-explanatory such as canceling subscriptions to mainstream press. The opening Xwitter notices provides information, also.

As for conflict of interest, are you implying that Musk is altering information to his benefit? Are you saying USAID has provided funds to SpaceX? Again, if you or others have concerns then contact the Trump administration or interface on Xwitter doge (https://x.com/doge). Although the general public is asked for help, I’m sure they’ll read your complaints and act accordingly, or not.

Not So Common

Eight months severance and benefits is not cavalier. The emails as Musk states are “pulse tests” to see if an individual is actually alive. Pretty darn good idea if you ask anyone with a pulse.

Not So Common

Draconian forced Covid vaccinations is ok with democrats, however requiring employees to email what they have accomplished over a week's time and somehow the sky is falling.
