It seems part of the aim in doing what the county calls ending homelessness, is increasing well-being, security and hope for those who face economic difficulties, however, it seems increasingly apparent that the county is creating additional obstacles in this struggle, and not aiding in its prevention. My observation is that stigma and discrimination are ever increasing, and the difficulties that were once surmountable, are seeming ever more mountainous for those facing struggle.
This county, one might think, has a long way to go, but it may be that rather the county needs to make a speedy exit out of services that were better meant to be handled autonomously by nonprofits and faith-based organizations, and to quit polluting a once affectionate and caring community, by claiming it ever could or ever will solve homelessness.
