I hope you won’t mind one more take on Scott Abramson’s letter that struck a nerve with so many folks. His support of Donald Trump is what seems to have sparked the backlash. My focus is on his important question to readers: “Do you ever question the truthfulness of your sources?”
This past week, the United Nations retracted its statement that 14,000 babies in Gaza would die within 48 hours, Tom Fletcher, the U.N.’s under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs, had said.
The New York Times. NBC News. TIME Magazine. The Guardian. ABC News. The Independent. All these supposedly reputable news organizations published this libel, one of the most easily disprovable claims made during the war between Israel and Hamas. So did Katie Couric.
So, regardless of your preferred politicians or whatever your strong feelings about any subject, please, as Mr. Abramson says, question your sources.
