All of the information Trustee Jacobson shared is publicly available and on SMUHSD’s website.
Parents are right to be concerned about what the district is doing. There is a lot of confusion about what schools are teaching and which curriculum guides they are using for the ethnic studies course.
Antisemitism is endemic to the liberated ethnic studies approach. Liberated curriculum frames every issue as a result of oppression (ignoring all other possible causes), and includes biased anti-Israel and pro-BDS propaganda. Children should learn about the diverse cultures that make up America without indoctrination.
Thanks for your letter, Ms. Rothkopf. I’d recommend folks follow Ms. Jacobson’s lead and speak out. And I’d also recommend that those concerned about antisemitism in schools contact the Department of Education and hopefully, they’ll address the antisemitism in schools and withhold federal funds to schools indoctrinating kids under the guise of “ethnic studies.” Side note… same recommendations in speaking out and contacting the DoE to report schools continuing to allow biological males to compete against biological females.
